The Portable Gamer Review: Class of Heroes (PSP)

TPG writes, "Where to start? This is an immense game. I am over 9 hours into it, and barely – just barely – past the first dungeon. Yes, I said first. So, in searching around for a way to tell this tale of a review, I did not know where to start. So, as is usual for the narcissistic blogger, I'll start with me.

This being my first foray into the world of JRPGs, I faltered at first. I read no instructions (none came with the preview copy I received), I pressed buttons with abandon. I enrolled pre-made students, I created new students. I didn't choose their race, gender, or alignment with any more care than, "that looks cool." I wondered around the school a bit, then headed for the labyrinth. I figured, this is a dungeon crawling RPG, right? What could go wrong?"

I really liked this game. STILL like it, in fact, since there's many more hours to go.

Crazy that this game is so long, 9 hours and barely the first dungeon? INSANE!

CrAppleton5801d ago

That is pretty crazy.. seems like a cool game

JRPGs are new for me too, I might have to try this out on my psp

I've played a handful of em.. I've liked what I've gone through so far.. may have to take the 3000 for a spin with this baby

I've kinda burnt myself out on JRPGs. They haven't changed significantly in the past 10 years or so. I'm not saying they're bad, just they don't offer much that's new to me. Similar stories, similar gameplay, similar time-sink, etc.

Agreed. 20 bucks can score you a few hundred hours of excellent gameplay with this deal.

rivencleft4011d ago

May have to finally try out some Persona.

dead_pixels4011d ago

If you're new to the series I'd start with Persona 2: Innocent Sin as it's a lot more polished and enjoyable than the original.

I'll have to check that out, thanks.
