Assassin's Creed II multiplayer confirmation?

Gameplayer pushes hard on the topic of Assassin's Creed 2 multiplayer and gleans an interesting response.

"From what we've seen of Assassin's Creed 2 so far, it looks as though Ubisoft has taken the criticisms of the first game onboard, adding more variety in single-player – including a bunch of new weapons, gadgets and less repetitive missions – but they may well be adding a sure-fire way to spark replay potential: multiplayer."

does every game need multiplayer this generation? i'd enjoy it as a single player game, but as a multiplayer that's way awesome.

this generation is the social generation!!

I myself am against every game following the multiplayer trend. It generally ends up being a disappointment. So, why even bother with it in the first place and extend development time? I still play awesome single player games like bioshock and Uncharted even though they had no multi.

At the same time, a game should be optimized for MP from the ground up.. COD for example.

No. For the love of ancestores multiplayer.

Not every games needs multiplayer. Some games shouldn't even HAVE multiplayer.

They need to just make a good solid single player experience and from what I saw they are on their way.

I'll pick this game up for the single player but I seriously doubt I'll even try out the multiplayer. I tend to really only require a few MP games to fill my online need (and really good ones at that, like COD).

As long as the single player for AC2 is satisfying, if they want to tack on MP, they can go right ahead, but I probably won't be playing it.
