PlayStation-deprived boy commits suicide

Reports from Saudi Arabia suggest that a boy has killed himself over a PlayStation.

The 12-year-old boy, unnamed, allegedly hung himself last week, when his father refused to purchase him a PlayStation. The boy had threatened his father with suicide, if his father didn't purchase him the console, but the family failed to take the boy seriously.

These reports come soon after the suicide of 12-year-old Pongsathorn Wattanabenjasopha, from Thailand. He killed himself after his father had banned him from gaming.

More details in the article.

the thought of getting one in the future should have been enough to keep him alive!

I love my PlayStation as much as the next man, but damn...

Life offers too much.

I'm guessing the Microsoft announcements didn't go over too well.

Joking aside, hope God rests his soul. This is sad. :(

Here is my over-analyzation...lol, This is ridiculous. I'll go ahead ans sum it up. Now we can just wait on the media to blame Sony for their system being too expensive that this child's dad couldn't get him one and saved his life. Or, how the XB360 is cheaper, but "lower quality" which is the reason he wanted a Playstation, so they will attack M$ with some crap about making a better system which would have given this child a cheaper option, thus saving his life. I feel bad for the family, but these children with extreme gaming conditions should be in counseling. Most cases like this are usually about the child being ridiculed by classmates at school for not having something or the other. My guess is with this child he was the object of ridicule for not having a PS3 like the other children, so instead of having to deal with them anymore, and out of anger at his father for "not caring" he kills himself. Condolances to the family, and R.I.P to the child...:(

No one is going to ridicule hardware specs and price points this time. This was just a fu*ked up decision made a by an obviously mentally disturbed child. No one is gonna spin anything here; it's just a tragic story.

I'm not so sure they can, most talent that made the old games as good as they were, has left Bioware.

RaidenBlack13h ago

They can always recruit old fellas,
And also, new devs can always learn and also new indie devs are very passionate evident from the amazing indie games heavy with these gameplay features.

I don't think anyone would wanna come back after the stories that were told from Anthem development. I just don't see it happening. It's a bit similar to blizz, some of the talent has come back there, but there has been a shift in the studio's culture and also what the higher ups expect/demand of them

matt13914h ago

After andromeda and veilguard i think it’s assured that the bioware we once knew has gone, I have little hope for me4. Hopefully i’m wrong.

They kinda did in the Lego Clone Wars game. One of the stages or two was devoted to young Boba Fett, Bossk, Dengar and Aurra Sing. Shame they never did the other seasons in Lego form. I believe it only covered the first 3 and pilot turned movie.
