Nippon Ichi is well known for producing deep, engaging turn-based role playing games with tons of replay value. Their catalog boasts a large number of critically acclaimed titles and cult classics, such as Disgaea 2, Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom. With that kind of pedigree, you might think that the company would be one of the last to experiment with a different genre. However, this June, Nippon Ichi will take a radical departure from their typical formula with GrimGrimoire, but fans might just be shocked to discover that it’s a fantasy inspired real time strategy game. We managed to check out the game quickly at a recent NIS America press event, and came away with these impressions.
