MMO's are for a specific type of gamer. Those guys (and gals) who sit for many months and dedicate a huge portion of their life to exploring game worlds, improving their characters and joining guilds. When a new one is released there is normally a rush to see what is on offer and if there will be enough to maintain interest to build up a rich and diverse community of players. Many people are looking for a game to replace World Of Warcraft, the insanely successful game from Blizzard. The Chronicles Of Spellborn is a free digital download with a subscription system they class as "Freemium".
As no agreement could be reached between Frogster Asia and Dutch licensor Spellborn NV, the MMO Chronicles of Spellborn is closing in Asia.
Acclaim operates servers for the MMO in North America. The game has been beset by woe since its launch, with its dev team bankrupt a while back.
Did you miss out on the Chronicles of Spellborn when it initially came out? Most likely you did. If it wasn't the freemium model that confused you, it was most likely the crazy-odd "Acclaim coins" system combined with "membership" that turned you off of the game.
Well, as mentioned before, Chronicles of Spellborn is facing some issues and tough times. The game is being re-developed into a free-to-play model while one arm of the Spellborn company is facing issues of bankruptcy. But not all is doom and gloom with the game itself. In fact, now couldn't be a better time to check out Spellborn.
While the game is being re-developed and eventually re-launched, the current version is now completely free. All you need to do is go on, create an account, and download the game. That's it.

"Many of you will read this and be surprised to discover that one of my favorite games of all time is Project Nomads, an Action game where you can control your own personal flying isle, exploring and fighting with anybody brave enough to stand in your way. The critics blamed the game for being too linear, as well as too repetitive, and I tend to agree with them, although one thing is for sure - the idea was original and well put into practice."
