When you want stealth action involving ninjas and bloodshed, Tenchu has always been a reliable series to go to. More than ten titles have been released over the span of time we've been graced with the Tenchu franchise, though a good amount, admittedly, left a lot to be desired.
Impotence. No one wants to feel weak. It's true in life and in video games. You might start off as the under-dog, but that can't last for the entire game. You want to start conquering something, anything. And when you do, it feels oh so good.
Here's a short list of the games that make you feel powerful, invincible; they make you feel . . .
Badass.
Thanks for bringing the caps to my attention, guys. Not sure what happened when I submitted it.
Terrible article.
God of War 3
Prototype
inFamous 2
Just Cause 2
Crackdown is the ONLY one on that list that made me feel even kind of cool. Even then, there is no story to motivate you to be cool.
I know Just Cause 2 had a bad story too, but blowing up entire towns and flying a commercial plane into the side of a military base...is pretty fun!
MadOverdose.com writes: It’s no secret that ninjas are cool. It’s also no secret that ninja games are mysteriously fading out. I’m not talking about the fast paced, hack and slash action of new age Ninja Gaiden, I’m talking blood thirsty shadow wearing assassins who use tactics and precision and would cut off your head and give it no second thought. There’s been a small handful of good series that have all shown potential, yet seem to have just faded into darkness over the years.
Not sure where but they seem to be hiding from Ninja Gaiden, IMO.
even though there are many aspects of ninjas not in NG, it is the go to game for ninja action. Tenshu & Shinobi seems to have disappeared from existence this gen.
Agreed Apollyn, I too miss the old Tenchu games. 1 and 2 for me were masterpiece's, liked 3 aswell. After that, things started getting outta hand. We need a tenchu for ps3, a total revamp of the first 2 maybe ?
One can dream....

It is now the year 2009 and in this year we have a new TENCHU game for us ninja-lovers to enjoy. While past-efforts regarding sequels have been deemed mediocre to downright bad by some, I still enjoyed them. The first entry in the series is without doubt a classic and one of my favorite games of all-time. The ones that followed were not done by the original creators, so some things were obviously different, in-tone and game-play mostly. But now we have in our hands the latest installment, with the original team back at the helm, TENCHU: SHADOW ASSASSINS for the PSP and Nintendo Wii. This review refers to the PSP version of the video-game..."
It would have been nice if they kept the old gameplay. This Tenchu didn't really feel like Tenchu at all. Didn't like the game. 3/10 for me.
