Eurogamer Portugal writes: "The development of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the promising RPG The Witcher has not been canceled but it was suspended.
Were of the French Widescreen Games that announced the suspension of the adaptation of the game for consoles, games that would be developed in collaboration between Atari and CD Projekt.
Olivier Masclef, manager Widescreen Games said in a press note of that, "The development of the game The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf was suspended pending the resolution of financial problems between the project partners. We regret this situation mainly to the fans eagerly awaiting for this game. We find an intelligent solution to our partners who are involved in this ambitious project. "
Some footage from the canceled console version of The Witcher has surfaced over on YouTube, and it really makes you ache for what could have been.
i don't know if my pc will run it ..but im definitely interested in this game. The PC footage i've seen blows this away.
Video no longer available :(
Anyone knows where can i find the vid? i really wish to see it :)
So I never knew it was cancelled :/ At least I'll be getting a moderately good gaming PC in a few weeks so I'll probably pick it up for that.
How do you think a 2.6gHz AMD Athlon II X4, 4GB RAM and a ATI Radeon 5750 will do on this?
As fun as it would have been to play the Witcher with a better, more action-oriented combat system, I'm much happier that we're getting a whole new game (Witcher II) instead.
VG247: CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the canceled console version of the original Witcher is still being "considered"."It definitely is considered. No particular plans though," said The Witcher 2 senior producer Tomak Gop, speaking with VG247.
Its to bad it does not sound like it really will happen. But as long as Witcher 2 comes out on the consoles that will be great.
VG247: With CD Projekt having now formally announced The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – along with nice assets to back it up – we grabbed some time with senior producer Tomek Gop to chat about the game's new engine, what's going on with The Witcher on consoles and what to expect from Geralt's sophomore release.
"I remember that before release of The Witcher we got an opinion from ESRB saying that “the game contains really little violence compared to the amount of sex”, while at the same time PEGI was like “hey, the mature content in your game is so teen, you could easily spice it up a bit if you’d like”."
US vs EU, too funny.
It´s a little bit sad, The Witcher seems to be a good RPG.
I have play the first The Witcher, so for me it will be always a PC game.
So that means, the project will probably continue huh? I HOPE SO!
