PC Mag: At times it seems as if EA couldn’t choose whether to make the game a shooter, a straight-up shot-for-shot homage, or a strategy game, so its game designers tried to do all three and couldn’t deliver. The shooter aspects of the game are basic and quickly become rote. The strategy aspects are not really all that strategic: The Don’s view is more map than chess board. With some variety in the missions and bit more polish of its open world, EA could have had a Mafia hit on its hands. But in the end, this game doesn’t live up to the film classic. It’s more like the forgettable Godfather III than its Oscar-winning predecessor.
