This weekend marks the fifth anniversary of the original Painkiller's release. The hellish game took a decidedly old school approach to the first-person shooter genre, focusing on the straightforward running and shooting of early shooters like Quake and Doom. But though the gameplay was a definite throwback, the polished graphics and the immense scale of the bosses were firmly rooted in the next generation of gaming. Today JoWood and Homegrown Games are announcing a brand new sequel in the Painkiller series, Painkiller: Resurrection, and IGN has got the first exclusive details.
"The Painkiller Complete Pack is 70% off a GamersGate, taking it’s price down to £5.40!
The pack contains:
-Painkiller Black Edition
-Painkiller Overdose
-Painkiller: Resurrection
-Painkiller Redemption"
Join forces with Daniel Garner and Belial once again to vanquish hordes of monsters in the never-ending battle between Good and Evil. The brand-new add-on, called Painkiller: Redemption, will be released on February 25th, 2011 as a downloadable game, and promises few hours of fun and engaging gameplay.
Once People Can Fly left this franchise, it became stale and developed by nearly anyone willing to make more levels for the game that should of stayed as mods. That's great for community and publisher, but the problem is, any game after Battle Out Of Hell is pretty diabolical and full of bugs also, you never play as Daniel.
Homegrown Games has released a new update for its shooter Painkiller: Resurrection that brings, among other features, a co-op mode for up to 16 players.
Freaking AWESOME.
