After buying it in John Lewis for a large sum of £165, I have downloaded 57 apps, and transferred 234 songs on to it. Not only that, but I check my mail even more often than I used to, I catch up on iPlayer programmes and I change my calendar at school for band rehearsals - which will automatically sync when I arrive home.
I haven't paid for a single app yet, and think that it doesn't really limit the capabilities if you don't want to spend money on it - or indeed have wasted it on other things.
