List of reasons not to get the OnLive gaming service.
All valid reasons except for the last...Why would it matter using different letters/symbols...that was very lame! If you are confused over the alphabet, you are probably the type that can strangle yourself with a wireless controller.
"10. Using L, I, V, and E buttons instead of A/B X/Y buttons is stupid and confusing, just like “circle” and “triangle” buttons on PlayStation." Thats pretty fanboyish? 3 Generations of Circle, Square, Triangle and X and he says its stupid? Even when playing on Xbox I still refer the buttons to the PlayStations, its force of habbit imo.
What! It's only available for America...? That sucks......
10. Using L, I, V, and E buttons instead of A/B X/Y buttons is stupid and confusing, just like “circle” and “triangle” buttons on PlayStation LOL!
Yeah what was he thinking!? :P It doesn't matter what symbols, this is nor a valid reason, come on. And a lot of the other "reasons" not to get OnLive was a lot of "might not/may never/possibly" which actually is speculation. It will come to Europe at some point as well. Lame "article". Btw, I think we all owe it to OnLive to give them a chance at least to finish their BETA stage before jumping on the same "It's impossible"-train as every journalist out there.
Reason 10 - Wow, what a cheap shot against the PlayStation controller...
wow that was badly written :/ and yeh the last comment was a bit odd... does he look at his controller when pressing buttons?? i just know where they are lol could be smiley faces for all i care
What an idiot. Square/triangle is stupid, but X/Y is not. WHAT?
What a terrible waste of a tenth reason! Sounds like someone is desperate to find fault (not a good attitude). Also he says that it is only in America at the minute and only has 16 games. Considering that it isnt even in an open beta yet(which is a good thing, should probably add that to the pro's column) and it has 16 games which is roughly the same amount that the PS3 and xbox had as launch titles (except its 16 AAA games instead of some diamonds in the rough). Oh and they have plans to release it in other territorys if sucsessful (like ps3 and 360 it wont launch in all territorys at once).
Lol; this list was horrible 1. You don't know if the Tech will work so this can't be in there. 2. Lag could be possibly a huge problem, but again, you don't know. 3. Those 16 games were just a preview, it still has plenty time to get up to date. 4. If it is delayed or unreleased, then you wouldn't need to buy it, this was the worst in your list. 5. This one was actually decent though it's been discussed plenty already. 6. If you lose internet access, thats your fault, if you don't have it, why would you buy it in the first place? this was stupid as well. 7. Ok this one was stupid too; "don't buy it because it's US only!" STFU! 8. Good one since most of these so called "real gamers" on N4G are so critical now a days, they complain about every little thing in a game. 9. It has no backing from Sony or Microsoft because it's its own console. You wouldn't expect SCE games on 360 would you? 10. So A/B, X/Y is the best control scheme and Triangle, O, Square, X is confusing? if anything, the PS control scheme is the least confusing. You obviously only play 360. Onlive using same buttons as 360 would be retarded, it's not trying to be 360.
1. You don't know if the Tech will work so this can't be in there. --- nobody knows ..and that's the problem ..new tech untested working flawlessly.??? in a dream maybe but that's unlikely .Anyone serious would doubt the statements of the onlive company 2. Lag could be possibly a huge problem, but again, you don't know. --- lag is a problem .. having a huge lag means less time to play correctly. In racing game this is just as important as the graphics .it's called fluidity ( i think ) .. wanna play a RTS lagging ? No thanks .. at want at least 30 fps while playing burnout. 3. Those 16 games were just a preview, it still has plenty time to get up to date. --- so far nobody is supporting onlive beside these games .. i'm sure more game would encourage the customers to sign up and more dev to come into the onlive project as well .. but so far nothing .. Remember m$ and sony at the E3 07 ? They showed how many devs they had working on their console ... onlive just has these 17 .. 4. If it is delayed or unreleased, then you wouldn't need to buy it, this was the worst in your list. --- true 5. This one was actually decent though it's been discussed plenty already. --- this is a huge turn off for many and they are right ... at least when the LIVE or the PSN is down you can still play offline ... 6. If you lose internet access, thats your fault, if you don't have it, why would you buy it in the first place? this was stupid as well. --- you mean AFTER you spend money into the thing you don't have any other right to it ? another turn off for onlive .. 7. Ok this one was stupid too; "don't buy it because it's US only!" STFU! --- this is a test of course but the world isn't the US ..do you know that many people on the internet AREN'T from the usa ? If the service work they should expand quickly or else it's death on the long run 8. Good one since most of these so called "real gamers" on N4G are so critical now a days, they complain about every little thing in a game. ---- Not everyone has this kind of connexion ..this again is on the list of the many requirements making onlive UNREALISTIC 9. It has no backing from Sony or Microsoft because it's its own console. You wouldn't expect SCE games on 360 would you? --- missing exclusives games and having no game for themselves mean only a librairy like the PC( or the n-gage ) .Removing the need to get onlive ... another turn off . i mean you're on N4g you've already read fanboy comments .. you should realise how it's important for them to have something they care about . 10. So [...]360 yeah i laughed too
a computer and net access can anyone look like an idiot
You know, from years of playing games on PlayStation, I know exactly where the buttons are when I need to follow an on screen command. It's the 360 controller I sometimes have to look down at. However, the layout is exactly the same, once you know the layout, you know what button you're going to press it becomes second nature. Same with OnLive if anyone actually buys into it. You'll take a while to get used to L,I,V,E and then it won't matter. It's just a lable, they all do the same thing.
Actually, LIVE makes more sense to me than the other 2. I'm just more used to the 360/PS3 button layout, but what the symbols are there for has no bearing.
L, I, V, E are stupid because its different, and it extends the learning curve for playing games because players have to look down at the controller until they learn them, but i disagree with the shapes on the playstation controller being bad because shapes are just as recognizable as letters (xbox 360 controller)in the world, and if anything, the shapes on the playstation controller are UNIVERSAL, because not all countries use letters.
I just cant understand it? already theres a list? this must be what jesus and martin luther king felt when they hated on by primatives too scared of change.
The last point is biassed as hell, but most of the other ones are completely valid. Not being able to play when the internet is not working, or too slow, and experiencing lag in single player are the top two reasons why I won't be subscribing to On Live any time soon.
some of the reasons are dumb like onlive might not come out.... that is a good reason to not get it. ill mushroom stamp this guy
he gets confused on triangle and circle?wtf..lol needs to go back to grades school..trying to shot two birds at onces huh.this guy is fanboy
lets petition Sony to change the buttons, from "X, Tringle, O, and Square" to "S, O, N, and Y" because only using letters makes sense.
Oh man ! playstations have always had shapes on the buttons. for like decades and you still cant figure it out, lol ! oh fck, i just choked on some spit.
