Nah, I heard this comment on here a while back which is more logical. Some dude said that it's called 360 cause it goes from Microsoft, to the consumer and then right back to Microsoft. Which seems pretty logical to me lol. RROD was a b!tch, or in some cases, it's still a b!tch lol.

the name 'xbox 360' was ONLY to compete with Sony and the PS3...thats it...MS didn't want to have an Xbox '2' fighting against a playstation '3'...while that seems stupid to those of us who follow this hobby closely...it makes sense in a marketing stand point when trying to get the attention of ignorant parents away from the industry standards (in this sense; Playstation as a brand)...

the other thing is PSX and XMB was out so they where probably like ahh we will call this Xbox because 2 X's are better then 1 and can only be topped by 3. Yet the competition wont be able to hit the XXX since its not family friendly.

while simultaneously running away from the respect of their former fans, and all you nintendo fans that roam around these posts, dont even bother to stand up for them, you know nintendo doesnt have the same high quality standards they used to have, everytime I would play a game on a nintendo console it would feel like magic. And im talking about first party, now they feel like EA, a simple rehash, with updated graphics and a couple different features. (ecxeption being Mario Galaxy)

Yeah Zune on a scale of terrible names does rate right up there. The hardware itself Is decent but they really could of been more creative. Best MP3 players out there have always been the Creative range.

Project Dolphin was presumably called that because the Gamecube has a 'Flipper' processor. Sega could have released an Ecco the dolphin game for them!

I think that the Microsoft name itself is boring:

"Let's see- we make 'software'. We make them for 'microcomputers'. I know! Take part of one word and attach it to part of the other! Computerware! No, that's not quite right. Let's choose a SLIGHTLY less bland name...."

What about the Microsoft Zune? Ah, because 'Z' suggests 'zany' and 'une' is the ending of 'tune'.

I don't hate any word as much as 'blog' though. Actually, forget that- I just saw that the word 'blogosphere' exists. That is horrendous, meaningless pap.

I write many lengthy comments on forums but because I don't put them all together on a website it's not classed as 'blogging'. Good. If people care enough about what I write, they'll hunt it out. If I care enough, I'll have to try become a proper journalist or write a BOOK.

What depresses me is that people who should know better like Stephen Fry have fallen for all this rubbish that every passing thought matters, the egotistical fool. Oh, I got stuck in a lift. I got out again. I'll say mildly naughty sounding 1950s jolly hockeysticks words like piddle and balderdash and that will be the sum total of my story.

Microsoft GROOVE should have been here. It is included in office 2007. Its pretty much just like windows messenger, but because we all know how "hip" the corporate asses at microsoft are, they decided to name it GROOVE.
