Warhawk in Spaaaaaace

The game, described as Warhawk in space, has been in development for some time, we're told.

Reached for comment this morning, Dylan Jobe, president of LightBox Interactive Studio, had this to say:

"We're incredibly happy to continue working with Sony Computer Entertainment America and World Wide Studios. We've got a great relationship with them and I'm really proud of our new partnership. With regard to the inevitable "What are you guys working on?"... It's way too early to comment on anything but I can say that we have some really exciting stuff in development that our Warhawk fans *and* new players will love."

Anyway, the PS3's lineup just continues to get more and more unbelievable. He formed a new studio and like Insomniac, they will only develop PS3 exclusives. :)

is it me or every studio working with sony in exclusive titles are happy with these partnership and the support they receive from them

I got a PS3 too late when MGS4 came out and was not sure if people would still be playing it. I also, Hate that PSN people hardly have mics. I like talking and strategizing with my team when needed.

I swear I thought of this when the game first came out. I thought it would be cool to have a space station level and if you left the inside of the space station without a Warhawk then you would die like in the damage zone. Hopefully it's a full game, but more DLC would be nice too.

Warhawks in Space would be badass. Since they got the Multiplayer down hope they can bring in some single player stuff or like co-op campaign.

Colony Wars is one of my top fav space flight shooters, and the PS3 has been missing this genre of games for some time (second only to Freespace). Looks like I'll get my space legs back sooner rather than later. YeA!!!

@ Jack_Burton Wow you get a disagree for wanting a new Colony Wars game. That is sad because Colony Wars is one really awesome game and so if this really is Colony Wars this could help relaunch the space sim genre.

I so think this is great news be it really Colony Wars or a new Warhawk.

I just want this time if it is Warhawk to have a single player campaign. I loved Warhawk's multi-player but Warhawk was not like the Warhawk on the PS1 not to say that Warhawk was bad just different.

I for one want to see a return to a campaign mode. Because that is what I loved on the original Warhawk. Plus you could also throw in the multi-player mode too. I could see a space shooter multi-player game being loads of fun. But at the end of the day I just want the story mode.

Colony wars was one of my favourite series on ps1. It really needs ps3 treatment. But why would THIS be a new colony wars game because it was originally made by psygnosis which became studio liverpool. Why would incognito be involved with it? Warhawk in space.....how very f'ing awesome

I am sure alot more people also loved that game and yet we haven't seen anything about it since the PS1 days.

Colony Wars is one of the first games that got me into PS1.

I just hope Sony somehow revives this series.

it was one of the first games i played that made me feel like i was part of a space battle, where my contribution wasn't necessarily the defining moment of the battle, but i still felt useful.

the sense of speed when flying through space was handled excellently as well.

i converted my disc to an eboot, but it plays better on the console, than on the PSP.

I concur Ghosty. I was a PC gamer online(got sick of the joyless Mouse/keyboard arms race)before Warhawk really grabbed me. The variation is the best thing about it and getting really good at each part is harder than you'd think which gives it much more depth than at first sight.
If this is, indeed, Warhawk in Space and they do add a great SP then colour me purple with excitement-the nest Warhwk announcement is one I've longed for for a while.
Still play the first one now despite knowing I never had a chance of being great at it after joining late as the games just so addictive.
I just never run out of praise for Warhawk, fantastic stuff.

In fact the words unbelievable is an understatement. You can go to any generation and combine the awesome titels released from all platforms in the same year and the ps3 line up alone this year crushes them. I will truelly understand what being broke means, haveing a huge backlog of games feels like, and a 24/7 orgasm from playeing so many great games the rest of this gen. Warhawks online experience/Gameplay is freaking unbelivably awesome. Its a true addiction and I havent played anything like it or close to its epicness. This sequal can only get better. It looks like once agin I will fall linto addiciton and play 2000+ hours... People who have bashed warhawk obviously havent experienced it. you cant just play it for a few hours you got to get the full experience and let it simmer.

is one of the most underrated games i've ever played.

throw it on the xb360 with unreal graphics and xbots would be all over this for sure. but its not so too bad!
But Warhawk, 10/10 in my book. It is such a balanced game and the skill level it can go up to is intense. Better be good at mid-air maneuvers while switching to Chaff and using it while trying to kill a bogey at your 12 that is also doing the same thing to avoid you. Talk about an intense game!
but in space, i hope the "which way is up?" won't mess up the game.

This could be totally awesome. Actually have a map though with territories you can take over and defend (more of an online campaign), and that would be totally awesome. :)

Oh, and some vehicle / ship customization would be amazing. Allow say 10 points to spend on things like speed, better handling, better weapons, stealth. That would be pretty sweet.
