With Sonic and the Black Knight, Sega continues its annoying trend of replacing Sonic's trademark speed with strange gimmicks. While not a terrible video game, the repetitive combat, easy missions and limited controls keep it from greatness. That said, it's still worth a rental, thanks to its attractive presentation, decent combat and bonus content.

Actually I am in my 20's and have gone back and played many of the Sonic games made, personally I find a lot of the older games to be absolutely awful with a particular nod to the original Sonic the Hedgehog. I know a good game when I play it and the games on my list and ones that are truly great and the pinnacle of the Sonic experience.
Well. I guess an opinion is an opinion.
But just because you can't make it through a game doesn't make it bad.

1. Sonic Adventure
2. Sonic 2
3. Sonic and Knuckles
4. Sonic 3
5. Sonic the Hedgehog 1991
That's pretty much my list, only I'd put S&K and Sonic 3 at 1 and 2. And maybe drop Adventure for Sonic Chaos for GameGear/Master System, I had so much fun with that game.

I’ve never been big on the classic Sonic games, or really anything before 1999 when Sonic Adventure for the SEGA Dreamcast was released, so don’t expect to see anything before then in my list. To celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 24th anniversary, here are my top 10 favorite Sonic games of all time.
