Bomberman 2 - 7/10

I don`t even care anymore, Gaming Journalism is sh!t.

Sony Rep5964d ago (Edited 5964d ago )

Well, 8 is a good score and you wouldn't really review Killzone 2 and Disgaea in the same context. GamesTM also reviews like Edge, but not as harsh. A '7' and below is just mediocre....

HighDefinition5964d ago

Is a good score, it`s just wierd considering the other reviews. IMO, anyway.

shoinan5964d ago

Probably the best British gaming magazine, doesn't have an agenda like a certain other publication. And an 8/10 is a strong score from these guys. Looking forward to reading the Disgaea 3 review, wasn't expecting that score!

Lawliet5964d ago (Edited 5964d ago )

*Disgaea 3 - 9/10
Killzone 2 - 8/10

Halo Wars - 7/10
FEAR 2 - 8/10
Crayon Physics Deluxe - 8/10

What?LMAO!

Mindboggle5964d ago

LOL is it you ?? Are you the 13 year old Dad ??

Agent VX5964d ago

RTS's belong on a PC with Kb/mouse combo, not with controllers, can't see Halo Wars doing very good. And Killzone 2 looks too generic, as much of the hype and fanfare have gone from this game, and it isn't released yet.

I would say from expectation, the review scores seem fair.

callahan095964d ago

The Killzone 2 score could be on point, I guess. Most of the scores seem fair. I'm really excited for Killzone 2, but I just got a game on Thursday called Flower, and, while short, is one of the most breathtaking interactive experiences of my life, and I honestly don't think that Killzone 2 will be a better game than Flower. It'll provide me with tons of exhilerating fun and more hours worth of entertainment, but will that mean it's "BETTER"? No, not necessarily. It could be for some, but it will likely not be for me, because Flower is one of those rare creative experiences: so relaxing, fun, beautiful, even emotional. It's gaming zen, enough said.

Killzone 2 being scored above everything except Disgaea 3 and a couple of other wonderful games tying it seems about right to me. Disgaea 3 is a wonderful, hilarious, really deep and fun game, too. I enjoyed it very much. There aren't too many games out there that I'd pick up over a new Disgaea game, seriously. Crayon Physics is a modern classic of game design and execution, it isn't for everyone, but it's fun, it's simple, it's very well done and a unique idea. It deserves high scores. Bomberman is an absolutely classic series and any entrant in the series (that doesn't attempt to stray into 3D territory) is worth checking out, and a 7 for a new Bomberman game seems reasonable to me.

The only one that really might not work for me is giving FEAR 2 the same score as Killzone 2. I played the demo of both and I loved Killzone 2, it was really fun and I played through it a few times, it had me really craving more. FEAR 2 demo, not so much. It had some interesting things going on, but it didn't seem, in my opinion, to hold as much weight, to have shooting mechanics that worked quite as well. But that's just me. Also, I know for a fact that Killzone 2 does more for online multiplayer and clan support than FEAR 2, with its badge system and everything, and that people will be playing Killzone 2 for years to come, while I have a feeling FEAR 2 will be a relatively barren online community from the outset and may not exist at all by next winter. So, I do have to wonder (with what little personal experience I've had with both titles, mind you) how anybody can rate FEAR 2 and Killzone 2 the same score, or give FEAR 2 the higher score as Edge did. FEAR 2 just seemed like a bit of a disjointed mess, like they didn't know what they wanted to do with it in some ways.

Maxned5964d ago

What the hell is Crayon Physics Deluxe...? And how did it get the same score as Killzone 2?

andron5964d ago

Both Edge and Games are rubbish at reviewing games.

Only british multi platform gaming magazine I enjoy reading the reviews of is Gamesmaster. I don't necessarily agree all the time with them either, but they usually make a decent point...

BkaY5964d ago

so fear 2 and killzone 2 got the same score.... ummmmmm....

let me see.... fear 2 ... i download the demo...played it for 3 mins and delete it ... killzone 2.... downloaded it and playing it everyday 5 to 6 times...

i dont know what is wrong with reviewers these days... i mean really...
wtf..

dachiefsman5963d ago

well BeeKay, I was just the opposite of you. I thought the Fear demo was better than KZ2. KZ2 has great graphics but the gameplay of fear was fun as hell. Who doesn't like pulling some matrix time freeze?

I bought fear2 and kz2, but go ahead and flame me.

Crayon Physics Deluxe - 8/10

Killzone 2- 8/10

=(

Killzone 2 is a 9 at least... cmon!!!

PirateThom5964d ago

If you'd played Crayon Physics, you'd know that's a low score for it as well. If they score Killzone 2 the same as Crayon Physics, there's something to worry about.

Sir Ken_Kutaragi5964d ago (Edited 5964d ago )

It's a 10/10!!! THE... &**$$%£ %^^^^!!!! *****$%^& *££((&*&& ;!! ;-D

Sony Rep5964d ago (Edited 5964d ago )

Halo Wars has gotten one 9 from an Xbox mag, a 7 from Edge, and a 7 from GamesTM. Not looking good for Halo. Race Pro is just garbage. I'll wait for the real driving simulation... GT5.

Omega45964d ago

Didnt GameInformer give Halo Wars a 9 or was it a 9.25 which was higher than even the almighty Killzone 2, so dont count HW out yet its got too many good previews not to be AAA

TheMART5964d ago

Killzone 2 got a 9 from a Official PS Magazine

It got a 7 from EDGE
It gets an 8 from GamesTM

Not looking good for Killzone. See what I did there?

Sir Ken_Kutaragi5964d ago

...that they gave 'Halo Wars' 7/10??? 99% of the time, if they got a Turd with a sticker of 'Halo' + 'xBox 360 ONLY' on it to Review, it would normally get a 10/10!!! ;-D

satyam5964d ago

It got perfect and near perfect scores from most sources

It will stay above 91% atleast when all reviews are in

Dont compare every game to the other. Most of those games are totally different genre, and they are reviewed based on each genre..

LeonSKennedy4Life5964d ago

...like dogs in a dog show.

Although, apparently EVERY poodle is the best poodle in the world.

satyam5964d ago

so it doesnt matter what some random british sites give it

It is an AAA

http://www.metacritic.com/g...

It will get some more perfect scores when more reviews are in

table5964d ago

I played both demo's and i thought the killzone demo was awesome. That fear2 demo was terrible, the graphics and the shooting mechanics were horrible.

LeonSKennedy4Life5964d ago

The FEAR 2 demo was amazing! You didn't get anything from it? How do you not love that demo?

REALgamer5964d ago

I'm about halfway through FEAR 2 and 8/10 is exactly what I'd give it. Great game, doesn't do anything really new and the scares are very hit and miss, but it's definitely fun with some nice set-pieces.

Much better level design and visual detail than the original which hides the blockiness of the levels a bit more.

You should know the FEAR 2 demo is actually custom made from segments of the game. It's not a real level, but bits and pieces stuck together so it doesn't spoil anything. The actual level that has the bit in the school with the ghosts is way creepier. O_O Your flashlight doesn't work at all, and there's NO light except for the flickering of a single light every second or so that makes you navigate from what you saw in the last light flicker. And Alma seems to have fun with that...

I wonder what GamesTM didn't like as much in Halo Wars? From the demo I'd have predicted an 8 or 9/10.

I can understand Killzone 2's score, as GamesTM seems to only award 9 or 10 for games with innovation. An amazing game with highly polished gameplay but no real innovation will get about an 8, which is what other reviews have said about Killzone 2. I don't see a problem with this though - if a game introduces nothing new but perfects what has gone before it's still a brilliant game.

satyam5964d ago

fear 2 is just garbage man

kz2 has a 93% average at meta
It got perfect and near perfect scores from most sources

http://www.metacritic.com/g...

REALgamer5964d ago

You don't know that yet. =) You don't own it. Still 11 days until it's out.

But absolutely it could be the best FPS of the generation. That would be awesome. However, I'm just going on how GamesTM seems to score its games. The best FPS of the generation would still just get an 8/10 if it didn't innovate.

I have no problem with a game not innovating but instead perfecting and polishing the gameplay that has come before to the highest possible degree.

And by the way, FEAR 2 is a very good game. It's not going to change the world, but it's very enjoyable and well worth playing. I'm not sure why there's so much hate towards FEAR 2. =S It just seems to be the opinion these days that if a game isn't the best of its genre, it instantly 'sucks'.

Why Guerrilla Games Shouldn't Abandon the Killzone Series

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.

1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland

OtterX234d ago (Edited 234d ago )

Shadowfall had great Multiplayer though. Too bad the campaign was meh at best. It did have the occasional great moment sprinkled in.

TheNamelessOne233d ago (Edited 233d ago )

I played through 2/3 multiple times. I played through the original once, but it felt pretty lukewarm for me. I couldn't be bothered to beat Shadow Fall. I got a couple hours in and just went "I'm done". Never touched it again. It was awesome on the tech side, being a launch title, but it didn't even match up to the first game when it came to actually having fun playing it.

Rude-ro234d ago

3 in 3d was an amazing experience to be had.
Although not many experienced it as intended for good reasons.

just_looken233d ago

You forgot the ai advancements on the playstation 2 killzone one you could have a full team of bots doing everything even playing the objective that was a big thing.

In killzone 2 they always flanked you and when available used the high ground.

Playing killzone 2 no hud 5.1 audio was/is awesome

MDTunkown234d ago

They should finish Horizon story first

darthv72234d ago

I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.

just_looken233d ago

You forgot killzone mercenaries on the ps vita but it was the worst selling sony game for awhile there.

Yui_Suzumiya233d ago

Yeah, a remake would be pretty awesome

anast234d ago

They should let it go or sell it. No use spending millions on this project.

LucasRuinedChildhood233d ago

Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro462d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv72462d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_462d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Cacabunga462d ago

Killzone 2+3
Sly Thieves in Time
Crack in Time
God of War Ascension
Motorstorm
Modnation racer
Infamous 1+2

Profchaos462d ago (Edited 462d ago )

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt23462d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball2000463d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin463d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole463d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix463d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel1989462d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor463d ago (Edited 463d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
