GamesAreEvil Review: 3 on 3 NHL Arcade

From the second you hit the menu on 3 on 3 NHL Arcade, you know this ain't your granddaddy's hockey. The rock pulsing through your speakers isn't just some cheap commodity, it's there to get you pumped for the action inside, and there is plenty of action for both casual and hardcore hockey fans.

As the name implies, 3 on 3 NHL Arcade is for the fans out there who want over-the-top action, super power-ups and a crazy metal head announcer with an arcade-like feel. There are no holds barred, as players zoom around the ice knocking each other over while fighting for the next power-up and a chance to get their stick on the puck. While there's an option to shut off power-ups, they help keep the action flowing and make the game much more interesting.

I had mixed feelings about this game when I first started it, but it has won me over now.

CrAppleton5554d ago

It really is a game that takes some time to get used to. The difficulty level is ridiculous

bgrundman5554d ago

That is very true, plus the controls seem a bit ambiguous at first. But it gets better as the game goes on.

Whoosh!
Ticketti
Blorp
Click

And that's just the menu.

Need I say more?
People that have this know exactly what I'm talking about.

That's good though. Games aren't nearly as hard today as they used to be. Either that or I'm just getting way too smart... lol ;)

When I first started the game and was trying to figure out what those sound effects were, I was totally stumped. Then my wife yelled from the other room, "What are all the dumbasses on TV making those useless sounds for." PRICELESS!

Sports games aren't really my thing but I keep hearing about this one, so I may have to check it out.

Out of about 20
Love it
Great Fun
I find it a little easer using just one player(position lock)

CrAppleton5554d ago

Yeah same here.. I was able to expand after a few games like that.. but it does make it much easier.. you can knock the goalie over while your AI team mates go and score for you.. cheating? nah.. cheap? sure is !

fafoon5554d ago

I love Checking the opposition after the Hooter goes or if they score
It gives you a few seconds to get some good hits in

supercharger51505554d ago

Each time I see a screen shot from this game I have to laugh... Totally reminds me of DK mode in Golden Eye on the 64. Fat head!

killyourfm5554d ago

YES!!! Oh man I remember and LOVE LOVE LOVE that game. nice memory...
(Goes to dig out 64...)

bgrundman5554d ago

This is worth picking up for both PS3 and 360.

fafoon5554d ago

Its up to you

September 2012 PSN Top Sellers: The Walking Dead Crawls Back To the Top

Posted by Morgan Haro // Community Manager, PlayStation Digital Platforms -

Why, hello again The Walking Dead. We seem to see you top these charts every time one of your episodes releases — in this case Episode 3: Long Road Ahead.
Maybe it’s your emphasis on great characters and story telling? Or maybe it’s the crazy outcomes of your in-game choices and how they affect later episodes. Either way, congratulations once again on Episode 3: Long Road Ahead and its dominance of the charts in September! Other respectable debuts include Jet Set Radio, Borderlands 2, and Tokyo Jungle.
