IncGamers: F.E.A.R 2 Project Origin Review (8.6/10)

IncGamers has posted their review of Monolith's F.E.A.R 2 Project Origin.

A quote from the review: "While the action side of the game is often thrilling, it's not the main draw. FEAR 2 lives up to its horror game billing with graphical and audio tricks that permanently set the hairs on the back of your neck to their "rise" setting. These can be as subtle as the HUD slightly flickering, a small controller vibration, a full-blown hallucination of Alma's past as she swings happily on a swing in a washed-out field (a repeated, important motif), or a simple shock like a sudden stab of discordant noise."

I checked this out when it was being reviewed and it does look like a decent game. Not played it yet myself though, only saw snippets.

I'm not sure what it deserves exactly, as I haven't played the full game yet... but this is a score that gels much better with the written review it's attached to. I'm looking forward to playing the game for myself.

I would like to check this game. Never really seen it. The babes at the Fear booth (New York Comic Con) looked gorgeous. So I guess they did the job of not making you forget the name of the game lol. I sure not gonna forget the F.E.A.R. name.

8.6? Pretty good score. I'll have to read to see if I agree with that tally...

Have you had a chance to check it yet? I'm not sure I agree. I might have given it nearer a 7.5, but then I'm not comparing it to the first one.

So anyone who has seen the game fill in everyone about the gameplay and compare it with other similar games?

BattleAxe5970d ago

Its a Call of Duty style of shooter this time. The A.I. is really good and so are the graphics. I played the Demo, and the gameplay is solid.

What I don't like is the story. Not to mention, how is it that you are able to shoot ghosts?

I think that Monolith should use the FEAR 2 game engine with its fantastic AI, and make a military or Rainbow Six style of game, that would be sweet.

F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin, a Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "Whilst F.E.A.R 2 wasn’t the masterpiece I remembered from ten years ago, with its combat and level design being worse than the original, it is still a fun game that is well worth playing through today. "

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Review

Following on the coattails of the highly successful First Encounter Assault Recon, or F.E.A.R., Monolith Soft and publisher Warner Brothers released the highly anticipated F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.

Set immediately prior to the finale of Point Man’s adventure in F.E.A.R., Project Origin tasks the player, one Sergeant Becket, and his squad with the retrieval and protection of Armacham’s Genevieve Aristide. Shortly after you battle your way through her apartment complex, a mushroom cloud explosion blasts through the city, successfully incapacitating Becket. While passing in and out of consciousness, Becket sees his journey from Aristide’s apartment to a hospital bed where he hallucinates being torn asunder by demons. Upon awakening, Becket finds himself pitted against a team of special ops soldiers cleaning up Armacham’s involvement from the original F.E.A.R.
