IGN: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves First Look

Naughty Dog is a filthy tease. Yesterday, the folks behind the company met with a plethora of videogame journalists, went over the story and details of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and even played through a level set in a bombed out section of Nepal. Yeah, the gameplay looked awesome and the graphics were somehow better than the crisp stuff we saw in Drake's Fortune, but when all that was said and done, Naughty Dog kept talking -- about the possibility of a helicopter shooting out the foundation of a building and Nathan having to navigate his way out of the crumbling structure while the enemies around him try and do the same thing; about fighting on top of a train as it curves and careens through the environment and Nathan having to adjust his balance and shots accordingly; about picking to either run through the train cars or shimmy along the roof. The developers talked about these OMG moments, but they didn't show them.

Prettiest graphics I've ever seen - the detail is mind-boggling. I imagine that the controls and story-line will be as slick as the last one too.

PS3 delivers again. The first Uncharted is one of the best games this gen, IMO, right up there with Mass Effect, MGS4, and LBP. It had a FANTASTIC storyline with some of the funniest and most believable dialog I've every experienced in a game, and it was just plain fun.

Here's to you, Naughty Dog. Day 1 purchase for me (not that I was on the fence about it...)

i see what you did there with the 'S', but definitely agree with you that i CAN NOT wait for this game, but it makes me wonder if co-op will be limited only to Nathans' quest, or if you (as chloe, or 'them') can have a separate adventure that will lead you to some point where the two meet up again.

but yeah, Uncharted 2 is probably my most hyped for game of 2009.
i simply loved the first one. played it at least 15x.

This game seems simply amazing and according to the gametrailers article .. maybe even co-op. Woo Woo. It is gorgeous and i trust naughty dog above just about every developer. Uncharted 1 is in my top 3 favs if not my top. Can't wait for this game.

I trust ND will once again WOW the world with Uncharted2! I also totally love the 1st and have played it like 6 times! (although less than half of meepmoopmeep!) this is the instant day 1 purchase for me since I knew that it was coming just because the 1st one is so awesome and ND seems keeping their magic touch in the 2nd one! yeah, I'm yet to play it but the trailer on the train is as catchy as those found in the 1st one! Drake is as beliveable as a real character I totally love him! I hope they can announce the release date already!

Insomniac and Naught Doy are the only two developers I know that only release in-game screen shots without them being modify.

I agree. The detail and lighting are amazing.

The first one was already one of the best looking games on any system, and the sequel looks quite a bit better. I am impressed. Naughty Dog is one of the most talented group of developers out there.

Uncharted 2 will undoubtedly be one of the very best looking games available on any console. More importantly though, I expect Uncharted 2 to ramp up the witty humor, expert pacing and exiting gameplay found in the first game, making it an even better experience.

The first game is one of the best games I've ever played, great story, great character and supporting cast, great gameplay and fantastic graphics, not to mention the game ran as smooth as you like.

But wow the second game sounds just way too awesome, story sounds amazing as does the action and some promising new gameplay mechanics.

Anticipating this game more than Killzone 2 tbh and thats saying a lot cuz can't wait for KZ2 lol.

They have to be my favorite devs. They release top games every gen. Crash 1-3 and CTR, Jak 1-3 and Jak X, Uncharted 1 only to be out done by U2. I can only imagine U3 and the Uncharted... Cart Racer? Probably be the best cart racer this gen.

To be honest I would have been happy if Naughty Dog kept the same gameplay ingredients and characters from the first game and just placed it all in a new setting--the first game was that good.

However, the fact that ND seem to be improving the game in almost every area just blows my mind. I can hardly contain my excitement for this game. Next to Killzone 2, this is easily my most-anticipated game.
