Resident Evil Requiem's First & Third-Person Perspectives Will Feel Like 'Two Separate Games'

These camera modes will feel like separate games due to the extensive work that has gone into preserving immersion. The developers have done delicate work to ensure gamers playing using either mode will feel fear.

FYI the VR Modes in RE7/RE8/RE4 Remake do this too.

shinXseijuro17h ago

Dunno why they disagreeing with you but even REVillage Gold edition Playthrough is whole different experience than the First person one. I’m a big RE enthusiast so I’m very happy that Capcom are looking to please fans of the two genre . It’s the best of both worlds Imo

Neonridr51m ago

I hope we get a VR option for 9.

Blad3runner0013h ago

Talk a bout a massive exaggeration.
The environments, enemies and especially story, will be the same regardless of which perspective is used.

Having said all that, 1st Person will always be superior in games like this, simply due to the far superior immersion. 1st person 'brings you into the game world' type of feel. 3rd person feels like 'you are following behind the person who is in the game world'

Then there is VR, which is 1st Person on steroids.

Regardless of which, saying it will 'feel like 2 separate games' is incredibly exaggerated and inaccurate.

StoneTitan4h ago

Talks about a massive exaggeration then continues to talk about how experiencing a game in First Person feels so much different than in 3rd person, making the same point the article does.

damn son, nice one

xD

Neonridr50m ago

they were able to argue with themselves off their own original idea..

quite impressive

Let's hope they continue their PSVR2 support with this.

maybe hes a bad match, cause hes been through some shit and isnt all too scared of anything anymore haha

coolfool2d ago

True! But that probably still makes the comment that he's a "bad match" correct from a creative directors perspective.

Furesis3d ago

He's in the game, it takes place in raccoon city like c'mon. I think we might see others as well at least i hope so, it's been so long without jill being in anything.

Becuzisaid2d ago

The game releases the month before they celebrate 30 years for the franchise. It would be insane not to have everyone return in some way. Though I hope this has a good deal of puzzle rooms and stuff like the originals. I enjoyed RE8, but after the castle there really wasn't anything to the puzzle solving.

-Foxtrot3d ago

They are probably leading us on a bit, it’s Raccoon City, Leon, Claire, Jill, Carlos, Sherry have massive ties to the incident so at least some of them are going to be included.

Besides gameplay wise it’s still up to us the player how he plays, if we get killed then that’s on us, not because he’s gotten soft.

I refuse to believe they want to go back to Raccoon City, closing up this arc 30 years later, use that kind of subtitle and not include any of the Raccon City survivors.

Neonridr2d ago

I'm glad we are playing as someone different, I enjoy these new characters.

gold_drake2d ago

i agree.
i need more chris in my life tho.

-Foxtrot2d ago

I'm not against new characters but over the many years Capcom seem to keep adding them when they could have been including legacy characters who we've not seen for a long time.

In RE5 Barry was originally going to be your partner before the whole racism row kicked off while Sheva was just basically just a contact they meet in Africa.

RE6 could have just been Leon and Claire if they wanted, especially since Sherry was in the game.

Revelations could have just been Chris and Jill together for the full game

Revelations 2 could have just been Claire and / or Barry

Rebecca has only been seen in the animated movies, Carlos has never been seen since RE3 and Billy has never came back since RE0. Jill has also been missing as the main character since Revelations and that was 2012. It's not like these characters are being milked.

Also if you think about it, why Grace? Why not just have her mother rather than killing her off? Alyssa wasn't super skilled, she was just a reporter and in 2025 she would have been a lot older which would have slowed her down adding onto that survival horror aspect they are going on about.

The issue is with most of their new characters from Helena, Piers, Jake and even Ethan, they just aren't that interesting at all.

Aw man, I’m a recovering fear addict.

TheColbertinator2d ago

Leon was already a professional by time of Resident Evil 4 and it was arguably one of the greatest games of all time. I wish Mikami would return to get Resident Evil back to undisputed glory.

Ricdog2d ago

RE4 was one of the least scariest games in the series and Leon was part of it. It's hard to make a scary RE game with a seasoned character whose already overcome the most extreme horror.

Levii_921d 22h ago (Edited 1d 22h ago )

No dude, Koshi Nakanishi already did that way back in 2017 with one of the best entries in the series and he's back again and i can't wait to se what Requiem is about. I don't really want Mikami back cause his newest games sucked but i admit i would be interested to see what he could still and if he could still do something with the RE franchise.

EDIT: I forgot to add that not only he did that but he was the director of a game that single-handedly made Crapcom become Capcom again and then CapGOD, Re7 and the new RE Engine was so good it put them on the path of greatness that they are still on today, hell they're maybe even better today.

People say this gen sucks etc etc but I have played as many games as I ever had and probably more. If days were longer I would play even more games. I still haven’t played some good games from last year.

Can’t wait for this one just I hope I can squeeze it in.

derek14d ago

For sure, there are so many great games to play. This has been the best generation for me, there is always something to play and more games to come. The online that hates everything crowd has distorted alot of gamers view on reality.

Scissorman14d ago

The only people who are saying that are folks online tbh.
