The Precinct’s focus on proper protocol eventually wears a little thin, but its gorgeous, top-down take on GTA-inspired action from the right side of the law is undeniably arresting.
It’s time to strap in and hit the streets! The Precinct, the latest title from Fallen Tree Games, puts players in the boots of rookie police officer Nick Cordell Jr., fresh out of the academy and eager to prove himself. Mentored by a jaded training officer nearing retirement, players are thrown into a trial by fire—literally—as they learn the rules of the street.
Fallen Tree Games' Lewis Boadle joined 80LV to discuss the making of The Precinct, sharing the inspirations and technical details behind its noir visuals, car chases, and sandbox crimes.
The Precinct has some issues like car controls and gun combat. It is still the best police simulator out there
It's pretty fun so far to me on PS5 it also has 4.75 rating from more than 500 players on ps5 if that count for anything
The GTA we got in 2025
Okay I was going to completely dismiss this for clearly using the GTA art style,
but actually looking at it the game seems to be taking inspiration from the top down style that GTA 1 and 2 had but flipping it so that you play the role of the police.
Not a bad idea and the game does look pretty good graphically.
