EA confirms both Codemasters layoffs and job redeployment following WRC cancellation

The Southam-based Codemasters driving team seems to be no more following the cancellation of the WRC project and the halting of rally game development. EA has confirmed the reduction of “some roles” and also the “redeployment” of others.

Wasn't that the team Evolution became part of? I swear they need to go back to Sony and resurrect DC and Motorstorm.

The writing was on the wall as soon as EA got involved.

Wow!!!!! That blows! Now EA has the WRC license, so im assuming Klyotonn can’t get the license back. Not that their rally games were the best. They were getting stale. I thought by Codemasters getting the license, it would be better, but EA WRC, I thought was a step back from Dirt 2. Idk. Let hundreds of people go, then go and try to justify what will most likely be $80 roster updates, in the future. Forget this! Done with gaming! I quit

'It marked the first time the studio had used the license in 18 years since 2022’s Colin McRae Rally 3.'

Can you not get AI to do proofreading?

Weird article written by a bot.

In any case I knew EA would ruin Codemasters.
