Review - Lunar Remastered Collection (PC) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Leo Faria: "Both Lunar and Lunar 2 are utterly adorable JRPGs with lovable characters and great plots you can’t help but want to experience as much as possible. To have them available in an accessible and polished remastered package is more than just a lot of bang for you buck, but also a great way to preserve two cult hits from the 90s, finally making them easily accessible to a wider audience. It’s a good thing they are charming as hell, as their gameplay is grindy and dated. If you can put up with the clichés and limitations of old-school JRPGs, then Lunar Remastered Collection is a very easy recommendation."

I got 2 copies, one to play and one for my unopened collection but I was only able to get those because I knew when they were releasing physical copies. They sold out quickly and most people missed out. They are making more but how many who knows.

This sold out fast. I got an extra copy(not opening it for collection) from VGP but it was limited to 1 per customer. I read someone’s comment that said they will keep printing more as long as there is good demand but I don’t know if that’s true or not.

* late 80s anime vibes. Stylistically its VERY 80s- yes we GOT it in the early 90s the game came out in 92, but it was very much 80s style - the style that comes from there. The anime we got later that was 90s style/ originated in the 90s was more distinct. But if you look at it from the perspective of a person who wasnt exposed to the anime when it was new, but when it eventually trickled over, then yeah sure, anime you saw in the 90s why not. That said the whole review is a little off base in its approach even if its more or less fair. I dont know exactly what people expected from this release.

Sega Saturn enthusiasts and this review aside the game appears to be mostly well recieved. I honestly think the team did a good job.

Hate to be that guy, but stylistically speaking these remakes are very much 90's anime. Also, the original Eternal Blue had 90's anime aesthetics, while The Silver Star maybe, kinda, like from very far away, could be seen as a product from in between the eras, for obvious reasons. But stylistically speaking is pushing early 90's anime without a doubt.

The late 80's anime boom, not the previous anime rush, but the one we all remember as THE look of the late 80's is ruled by stuff like Akira, Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force, Fist of the North Star, Gundam, Gunbusters, City Hunter, Wicked City, Project A-Ko, etc. And Lunar do NOT fit the bill by a long shot. So, like I said, while I can KINDA see the original Silver Star as having some superficial 80's aesthetics, like VERY superficial, the entire series (the originals and these remakes) is 90's Anime through and through.

we need lunar remake not remaster

jznrpg15d ago

That would be great but I’m happy this is available as I am surprised we even got this. Hopefully with enough sales something more will come later

These ARE the remakes... The first remakes at least. Then there was the PSP and Game Boy Advance other TWO remakes of The Silver Star. So what you're saying is that you want a remake of a remake of a remake of a remake of Lunar The Silver Star, and a remake of a remake of Eternal Blue? What do you think this is? Persona?

Still, I guess I'm down with that.

TwistedXenos10d ago

what i mean is level of remake like FF7 remake, significant upgrade.
