Donkey Kong Bananza Direct

Donkey Kong Bananza Direct presentation, featuring roughly 15 minutes of information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game.

darthv722d ago

Not gonna lie... this looks sweet. The game is so busy that it may actually be too over the top with things to do.

repsahj1d 8h ago

I can't believe that my perspective on this game will change because of the Direct. I'm so excited to play it now.

Becuzisaid1d 1h ago

That was a very good direct. There's so much going on in this game that they didn't share earlier.

FinalFantasyFanatic21h ago

Initially, I had no interest in this game based on the initial trailer, but this direct changed my mind, I really want this game now.

badz1499h ago

another "transform to proceed/solve puzzle/find secrets" game from Nintendo. Mario, Kirby, Princess Peach, now DK. haha can't they come up with something different for once?

So much stuff to do in this that it may be too much. But I respect the ambition.

_SilverHawk_2d ago

This game shouldn't cost more than 20 dollars because it looks like a high resolution ps2 game with performance issues. Imo nothing about this game seems interesting and I would have preferred Nintendo making something akin to donkey kong country but in 3d with beautiful graphics. Will gamers continue to support Nintendo making new games with bland worlds with bad graphics and performance issues this generation. This should be a big blockbuster game for the newly released switch 2 but I guess it's supposed to be representative of the switch 2 by being an overpriced product that doesn't offer anything cutting-edge or new.

Profchaos2d ago

Dude should have gone to specsavers

Neonridr1d 23h ago (Edited 1d 23h ago )

bland worlds.. lol

get a load of this guy.

Levii_922d ago

Donkey Kong Framedrop-ananza :(

ZycoFox2d ago

Indeed, decent looking game but this is what happens when Nintendo release what is essentially a Switch Pro late, it was ready to release 2-3 years ago.

Levii_922d ago

I know and it's a real shame too cause i was hoping they would fix that closer to launch and polish the graphics more. The game still looks a bit.. rough to me, i don't know man. I think it might be a bit too ambitious for the Switch 2.

andy852d ago

It wasn't. Not that I'm saying it's powerful for 2025. But I can't imagine how much that tech would have cost for release in 2022.

Si-Fly2d ago

You realise the drops when your smash makes contact are intentional right?!

OMNlPOTENT2d ago

This site just has a hate boner for anything Switch 2 for some odd reason.

Levii_922d ago

Come on xD that’s a joke right? You can’t be that deluded? No game.. no game in history of video games games has had or would have that to be intentional. That’s mental.
And i hate to brake it to you but it’s not just when Kong smashes stuff, i know you have been gaming on a potato since 2017 and you’re used to it so it might be hard for you to notice choppy performance but i happens all over the place, ffs it happens when you use the 3D map.
How embarrassing man. Jesus Christ.

Profchaos2d ago

Don't worry this is just one guy using alt accounts to have a conversation with himself cause he hates people enjoying things

OtterX2d ago

I can't seem to get excited about this game for some reason, and I don't know what it is. I guess I just care more about the Donkey Kong Country franchise more. I do miss Diddy. It may be something I take a risk on later during a Black Friday sale in a year or 2, but I'm in no rush to pick it up next month.

ZycoFox2d ago

It might be because Nintendo are basically making all their games big and open, and when they do this they can seem pretty dull if there's not much there.. (Mario Kart World)

I prefer levels tightly made with some open areas, like they did with Mario 3D World and Land.

Big and open ain't always better if it's super boring and lacking content especially.

OtterX2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I agree. I do like the intent of Mario Kart World, but the world does feel surprisingly empty. Maybe it'll improve over time, but I don't feel a strong push to explore it at the moment. I want to like it, but I keep feeling this nagging feeling in the back of my mind.

Edit - hmmm, so apparently Diddy (and Dixie) make an Amibo cameo? I've never owned an Amibo before, and don't plan on starting now.

Tacoboto2d ago

This is a level-based game

OMNlPOTENT2d ago

Odyssey was a far better game than 3d World or 3d Land and had large open areas. It wasn't full open world though, and a lot of the areas felt like there was something to do around every corner. Bananza looks heavily inspired by Odyssey, likely because they share the same dev teams.

MK World's open world is mediocre though, I'll give you that one. It's a beautifully crafted world with nothing to do, if they added some sort of mission design it could've been good. Pretty sure all the other large, open worlds they've done they've absolutely nailed though (Odyssey, BOTW, TOTK, Kirby Forgotten Land).

jlove4life2d ago

He in jail tho take that Baby oil Baby oil Baby oil

Profchaos2d ago

Diddy was in the trailer with Dixie for about two seconds and it seems he is largely using the same design to

Tacoboto2d ago

This is now my most hyped title of the rest of the year. It looks incredible. What BOTW was to open worlds, this looks to be that for destructible environments.

darthv722d ago

This one and prime 4 are my most anticipated. Not sure why I got so many down votes above... my guess is a lot of nintendo haters dont like my enthusiasm.

Tacoboto2d ago

Oops, I thought you were dissing the game, like they're naively ambitious! My bad man.

Prime 4 was my top too but this morning knocked it down a peg. Kirby's Switch 2 Edition is also really high up there (only played the demo, bought with a Voucher alongside Echoes of Wisdom that I've still got to play on Switch 2)

Profchaos2d ago

Looks like a barrel of fun also day 1 for me so keen to try gameshare with family

repsahj2d ago

Me too!!! Metroid prime 4 direct next please!!!

UltimateOwnage2d ago

I was interested before, but now I’m really excited to play this one. It looks like a ton of fun, and that’s what good gaming is all about. Some of the aspects of world destruction and even construction are kind of wild. It took what Red Faction did all those years ago and went crazy with it. It also looks so packed with content it will be one of those games I come back to for years. I’m just thankful it’s worth the wait because it would have been a great launch day title.

Basically Amazon saw how well The Switch 2 is selling and realized their mistake and came back to the table.

Eonjay5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Complete BS story. There is no indication that there was ever a feud and i really dislike it when people trying to create strife out of thin air. Its made up. It never happened. They insinuated that Amazon stopped selling items sold by Nintendo. That is untrue. Misinformation. You will understand less having read their article than before clicking the page.

SavageFlamingo5d ago

For a very long time, only third party sellers had Nintendo games/consoles on Amazon. Nintendo has always disliked breaking street dates on new releases. Which Amazon does frequently.

ZeekQuattro5d ago

Fulfilled by Amazon" (FBA) refers to a service where Amazon handles storage, order fulfillment, and customer service for sellers on the platform. This means that when a customer buys an FBA product, Amazon takes over the process of picking, packing, and shipping the order, as well as managing returns and customer inquiries. Source. Amazon.

I'm sure they'll "break up" again, and then get back together, and rinse and repeat.
