'“[The] hardware processing performance [of Nintendo Switch 2] has become necessary for software developers to realize one of Nintendo’s most important goals: proposing new ways to play,” the president said in a translated comment.'

So I guess by that definition, Metroid Prime 4, which is cross-gen, isn't a new way to play.

While we're on the subject, open world racing games aren't remotely new either.

Yep Burnout Paradise and Forza Horizon are a couple that come to mind

RaiderNation47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

Metroid Prime 4 is a Switch game that runs on Switch 2 with upgrades. Same as Breath of The Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. It's not a Switch 2 exclusive.

Open world racers aren't new. But open world Kart racers are. When Nintendo speaks in these terms, they're speaking of new ways for THEIR IP's to play, not the competition. They really never acknowledge the competition.

Exactly what grievance are you trying to air?

Pedantic9147d ago

And you're splitting hairs, It's an open world racing game, an "arcadey" subgenre of a racing game if you really want to push it. Otherwise, it's just another case of "fans of an exclusive ecosystem sees something new".

Really now, Nintendo doesn't really care whats being said here nor do they need any help standing on their own two feet.

You truly live up to your name.

@RaiderNation

Why thank you, i do try to be precise in life.

Oh, nintendo fanboys. You'll gobble up anything nintendo tells you.

sboog8747d ago

You’re the problem. This is why Nintendo can get away with bs excuses.

Nacho_Z46d ago

If there's any pedantry here it's making an unnecessary distinction between open world racers and open world kart racers, the vehicle type is irrelevant from a technical standpoint.

Out of topic....

I heard a rumor that Arc System Works are working on a Switch 2 exclusive game codename "Watari". And it will use Unreal Engine 5.4 with expected release date of November 2025. Cool if its true.

We hear this every single generation with every single platform 😆

"Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa explains that games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are impossible without Switch 2."

Isn't this the most obvious comment? Of course it isn't possible on the Switch 1, it was made for the Switch 2

Profchaos46d ago (Edited 46d ago )

The particle system of DK bananza alone would never work on a switch so yeah I can see what they are saying here.

Of course these games would work on competitors consoles but they are making direct parallels to Nintendo hardware they are hardly going to come out even acknowledge the existence of another platform.

In addition this is like that generic line that every platform holder gives us before the launch of a new system
