Pretty much what everyone expected.

PRIMORDUS1d ago

Nintendo or Nvidia could have said this last year, we all knew Switch 2 was coming just say what chips it's using, what's so special it's just a underpowered mobile chip.

Michiel198911h ago

makes no sense to do that before announcing the console.

jznrpg23h ago(Edited 23h ago)

It’s a tablet chip.

Neonridr7h ago

it's a handheld device. Not sure what you would expect to power it but a mobile-based chipset.

bigfish23h ago

You may say it’s an underpowered chip etc but you can’t deny it will produce some of the best games this gen

shadowhaxor22h ago

SoC's do not produce games. Developers produce games. How much devs will be able to pump out on the hardware, well, that's too to be seen.

Jin_Sakai8h ago

Nintendo first party will pump out amazing games and that’s what the majority will buy Switch 2 for just like the 150+ million Switch owners. They sure didn’t buy it for 3rd party games. They’re just a bonus.

PRIMORDUS22h ago

I can accept it's underpowered just pointing it out lol I do have a Switch myself as well as a gaming PC. It will serve it's purpose with Switch 2 but, let's not go crazy here 😂

Profchaos21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

Tears of the kingdom was running on a potato spec device and it was doing things that developers didn't do on modern hardware.

I believe Nintendo knows how to suprise us even when the hardware isn't as strong as people would like

ABizzel119h ago

Switch 1 was A PS360 spec device with more RAM and a more modern CPU / GPU architecture. There are PS360 games that still look great today Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, GT6, Red Dead, Portal 2, Bioshock Infinite, Killzone 2 & 3, Halo 4, Crysis 3, The Last of Us, God of War, GTA5 (yes it’s been on 3 generations of consoles -_-) etc…. All PS360 games that look great still to this day.

Switch 2 is a PS4/XBO spec device with more RAM, a more modern CPU / GPU architecture backed by image reconstruction for at times “conceptionally” “PS4 Pro/Xbox Series S” “performance” with DLSS. And PS4 level graphics still look great especially with image upscaling: The Last of Us Part 2, GT Sport, Uncharted 4, God of War, Horizon, Quantum Break, Detroit, Gears 5, Forza Horizon 5, Cyberpunk 2077 etc…

gold_drake15h ago

yeh and it shows.

tears of the kingdoms only thing that no one has ever donez was the combining of stuff to make a new thing.

the rest has been done before.

FinalFantasyFanatic9h ago

Personally, I don't care if it's a little underpowered because it's a handheld device that doubles as a console, for the sake of battery life, it's okay if it's not the most powerful of the three consoles. I'm just glad it's significantly better than the original Switch.

Loktai7h ago

Yes... exactly. . "this" gen launched 5 years into the gen. And those games COULD be running more generation specific hardware. You can SAY underpowered because it is. Its also a machine someone may want to use to play more than exclusives... Do you thing Clair Obscur is going to be a good experience on it? There were RPGs which were suffering on switch 1 ,, RPGs... let alone any kind of action games.... I am not saying the system wont be fine, and BETTER than switch 1- But dont defend against "underpowered" like its a lie or wrong to say

For kids sure. I stopped jumping on enemies heads to kill them a long time ago.

Everyone wants a cheaper switch 2 and games

Vits10h ago

But of course, it's around 30% cheaper when compared to the global model. That kind of price difference really makes it hard to ignore. Even I would be interested in getting one, and I barely speak Japanese.

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders cause havoc after going live in the US, just like they did in Japan

For some, Target's website crashed from heavy traffic, while others had better luck with Best Buy and Walmart's virtual queues.

ZeekQuattro1d 1h ago

At one point I had 5 tabs on my browser with different stores. I was in a line queues in all of them and still came up short. I'm shocked at Best Buy the most. I had luck with them mutiple times in the past. Not this time. They were the worst offender. I'll get the system eventually but I ain't going through that again anytime soon. 😆

Jin_Sakai20h ago

I got on the waiting line on Walmart and it took an hour of trying and finally lucked out and got one.

__SteakDeck__17h ago

@Jin_Sakai People needed to stay in line on Walmart. After an house I got one. Hopefully they don’t cancel.

thorstein13h ago

I tried to buy straight from Nintendo. I signed up for the prebuy.

I got an email yesterday saying I could buy it after launch. After they talked all that shit about avoiding scalpers.

“People needed to stay in line on Walmart. After an house I got one. Hopefully they don’t cancel.“

Yea the waiting screen was dumb it showed no indication you’re in line so most people give up. I waited an hour and finally got in and was able to purchase one. I had to click the pre order button 100 times before it went thru though. Lol

Snookies1222h ago

I actually secured 3 pre-orders of the MK World bundle... No, I'm not scalping them. Just had to grab one for my Cousin and possibly my best friend as well if he wants it. Since their jobs would assuredly get in the way of them even attempting a pre-order.

Easiest by far was just going to Gamestop in person when they opened up today. Got there like 5 minutes before they opened and they still had a few left after I left. Got the other two at midnight from Target's app and Walmart queue. I also wanted insurance that one of my online orders wouldn't get cancelled or something.

I honestly question posts like this.

Actually the situation in Japan is VERY unique and different to America.

Every single retailer is doing lotteries....meaning you apply to get one and if you are lucky you get an invite. Usually it takes about a week or so to find out.

Also Japan has 2 models. The Japanese only model for ¥50,000 and the "international" model for ¥70,000. The expensive model is only available directly from Nintendo.

Luckily I won the lottery for the international model. Since you are only allowed to apply for one, most Japanese gamers are applying for the cheaper model making it much easier to buy the expensive one.
