Man this isn't a remaster, it's more like a whole remake almost. Very impressed with what they showed.

PrimeVinister2d ago

The return of the speech and lockpicking minigames made me way too happy :-)

Recording all new voices as well for different races. I mean this is a lot of work they've done here.

Hope the main Todd & Co. team adopts this approach, where their favorite script-heavy Creation 2 engine can continue to do the background RPG heavy lifting but the visuals are handled by the UE5 layer.
Best of both worlds.
I'll try this once Skyblivion comes out ... can't wait to compare actually, they're also introducing their own touches. OR might wait even for Skywind, can play back 2 back. But that'd be one long wait. And the longer wait would be the leaked/rumored Fallout 3 Remaster in similar vain.

PrimeVinister2d ago

I will be disappointed if they don't nail the voice I used to do to read out my Khajit's dialogue choices lol

This is what I thought Avowed was gonna be like.
Downloading it on gamepass as soon as I get home.

LikAChicken2d ago

Same. Although I do like Avowed's gameplay. I admit it was more like Outer Worlds.

RaidenBlack2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Different style ... but Avowed could've been grander and a direct competitor to Scrolls, if not Obsidian was under the same MS umbrella ... can't make an intra-studio competing product. (There were leaks, that the initial Avowed build was different than the launched version)
They're expanding Outer Worlds 2 though ... already seems better than Starfield in terms of core RPG elements.

TES deserves a bit more praise than it's given tbh, besides being really good games, there is no game that i know of that makes every item in the game a physical object that you can manipulate. You can steal them, put them back in the inventory of npcs, each item has physics. I'm drawing a blank when i think of another game that does that (at such a scale). I think thats also why TES games will always be a bit jank, but I'll gladly make that compromise.

I don't think Obsidian has even close to enough manpower to make a game like that.

I came to write the same.. looks far better than what you would expect from a remaster

Game does looks and feel incredible.

neutralgamer19922d ago

I am not the biggest fan but this was such a great presentation and releasing same day is awesome. I really hope fallout 3 is next. Such a underrated FO game IMO and if it receives this sort of treatment would be so much better

LikAChicken2d ago

Fallout 3 for sure (put hundreds of hours into the original release and the DLC's). But before Fallout 3 I really hope there's an interest internally for Morrowind. Less likely but I've always wanted to go back to that too.

this is as much of a remaster like Demon's Souls was for the PS5. it's a bloody remake!

Anyways looks great downloading it on ps5 now. Really annoyed now switch 2 version was announced.

Tacoboto2d ago

Standard Edition includes the OG Horse Armor that started it all lol

got_dam2d ago

ocelot072d ago

ShwaaMan2d ago

Downloading now, this is awesome. It’s already ready to play. Have fun everyone!

Muigi2d ago

Downloading rn it’ll be ready for when i get off work. This is gonna look insane on the Pro.

phallusitator1d 10h ago

I played on my pro last night for a few hours. Enough to get through the sewers and kick off the open world.
Overall having fun but noticed some graphical issues in the open world specifically around water in first person and while running up hill in 3rd person.

That reveal stream was awesome, really nailed it to get the audience hyped up.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered PC Optimized Settings & Performance Guide

The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered comes as quite a surprise. Launching nearly two decades after the original, the game was outsourced to a third-party studio. Instead of the Creation Engine or ID Tech, the remake uses the Unreal Engine 5. And we all know about UE5’s problems.
