Hope the main Todd & Co. team adopts this approach, where their favorite script-heavy Creation 2 engine can continue to do the background RPG heavy lifting but the visuals are handled by the UE5 layer.
Best of both worlds.
I'll try this once Skyblivion comes out ... can't wait to compare actually, they're also introducing their own touches. OR might wait even for Skywind, can play back 2 back. But that'd be one long wait. And the longer wait would be the leaked/rumored Fallout 3 Remaster in similar vain.

Same. Although I do like Avowed's gameplay. I admit it was more like Outer Worlds.

Different style ... but Avowed could've been grander and a direct competitor to Scrolls, if not Obsidian was under the same MS umbrella ... can't make an intra-studio competing product. (There were leaks, that the initial Avowed build was different than the launched version)
They're expanding Outer Worlds 2 though ... already seems better than Starfield in terms of core RPG elements.

TES deserves a bit more praise than it's given tbh, besides being really good games, there is no game that i know of that makes every item in the game a physical object that you can manipulate. You can steal them, put them back in the inventory of npcs, each item has physics. I'm drawing a blank when i think of another game that does that (at such a scale). I think thats also why TES games will always be a bit jank, but I'll gladly make that compromise.

I don't think Obsidian has even close to enough manpower to make a game like that.

I am not the biggest fan but this was such a great presentation and releasing same day is awesome. I really hope fallout 3 is next. Such a underrated FO game IMO and if it receives this sort of treatment would be so much better

Fallout 3 for sure (put hundreds of hours into the original release and the DLC's). But before Fallout 3 I really hope there's an interest internally for Morrowind. Less likely but I've always wanted to go back to that too.

I played on my pro last night for a few hours. Enough to get through the sewers and kick off the open world.
Overall having fun but noticed some graphical issues in the open world specifically around water in first person and while running up hill in 3rd person.

Wow. That's awesome. The amount of work they put into the game is worth it. Reminds me of when CDPR brought the Witcher 3 to consoles. The game was well worth the $$. And they cramed the standard packaging with goodies.

Purchased….It actually looks better than a remaster. Very close to what I would consider a remake. Been waiting a long time to see Oblivion released in a new shiny coat of armor. Way to go Virtuos and Bethedsa! Reasonable price too!

I guess we're all going to ignore that there is an $80 version with dlc and a $70 standard version for a 12(?) Year old remaster of a game with zero gameplay improvements. That's a triple A price point for a remaster....enjoy your fomo, suckers.

I don't even know why they've called it a remaster. It's a remake. And zero gameplay improvements There's literally loads of them...practically all of it has bren overhauled. Where are you getting that from? Also, where do you get $70 and $80? It's $50 and $60. It's like you've got this info from a salty friend of yours who BS'd about every part of it and not looked for yourself.

That's the price in pretty much every country, but the U.S. It's a remaster for the very reason there has been no gameplay improvements. It looks better. It runs better. They have new voice actors. None of those things amount to gameplay improvements which is why it's officially labeled as a remaster.

Which countries? Its 50 and 60 in the US. 50 and 60 in the UK. The last of us part 1 was labelled a remake and has had far far less done to it than this. Gameplay improvements - all new movements, added sprint, new combat animations, improved aiming + aim assist. Plenty of QOL improvements. Might seem minor but they're all gameplay improvements.

They add the ability to switch between shield and torch without having to go into the menu, just hold down the Square button on PS5. So good and you can have aim assist with the bow as well. You can even sprint now which makes it so much better than the original.
