I'll keep mine and probably mod it, or send it to a seller on Etsy for a hardware mod to run homebrew, and ROMs.
I modded my New 3DS as well, great for 2D emulation.

but if anyone is planning on transferring *all* of their S1 data to an S2, wouldn't this be a bad idea to do ahead of time? I can't seem to find anything concrete on whether or not my S1 is 100% required for a transfer to s2, or if every single purchase/download/save/dlc/eve rything is linked to my Nintendo account, since my order history on nintendo.com only goes back to 2019 and if I remember right NSO launched in 2018, with the S1 itself launching in 2017.

...maybe I'll just trade the old one in after to be safe lmao

If you have NSO your cloud saves are backed up you'll have to re-download your games but saves are taken care of.

All your purchases will be linked to NSO if digital or cart based obviously on cart.

The only exception would be if you had some fringe stuff like brought accounts to get games cheap

never thought I'd thank professor chaos for help, but thank you 😂

I have an NSO account but without active subscription. Can I still backup my files on cloud?

NotoriousWhiz29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

What about those games that don't support cloud saves? Allegedly the switch 2 versions of Zelda may not even support cloud save. And don't get me started on Animal Crossing.

Profchaos28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

@notorious I've got a library of roughly 40 switch games many first party ones and I haven't found that limitation I've reinstalled my switch software and picked up where I left off with no issues.
I think Animal crossing is a odd one I don't have that game doesn't interest me but I read that you need a account or something within the game so it's not impossible to transfer the save.

I've also not read anywhere about the Zelda limitations would be weird consider both botw and totk support cloud saves on switch 1

@repsahj I assume you need a active sub cloud saves are a paywalled feature but available in the cheapest Sub. Basically the same as ps plus could saves are paywalled in the same way

NotoriousWhiz28d ago

I only have 1 switch so I've never cared which games do or don't support cloud save. And I will likely keep my Switch instead of doing the trade in because I don't want any surprises with the system transfer. I can likely sell it on ebay for more than what gamestop would offer anyway.

Profchaos28d ago

@notorius I tend to agree I would be selling privately also or at least to CeX as they offer more typically than EB but I'm more likely going to give it to family and a hand-me-down.

Either way hope the transfer goes smoothly

I hope there's also a deal like this in our country, because I'm planning to sell my Switch 1 for the same price like this deal. Maybe around $125-$150.
