Everything Revealed During the Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct

There's a whole new open world to explore in Mario Kart World, and that's a lot of information to process.

I'm sold on this game. Everything about it just feels very polished and presented well.

No the graphics aren't some insane leap over MK 8 Deluxe, but it's all in the extras. The tracks and world feel so much more vibrant with lots going on. So many small details that we are getting to see thanks to the extra power of the Switch 2.

Can't wait for June 5th.

Everybody waiting to see what surprises Nintendo was bringing as Nintendo saying we’d find out why they were charging £80….. then they literally showed nothing particularly new. None of the “saviour” single player rumours were true. No new content that anyone was expecting. Just everything that we already knew hahahaha…

Wow. Bold move Nintendo.. bold move indeed… so what exactly were they waiting to show us that would change public opinion???

I can't believe it's 2025 and Nintendo still can't give us a single player campaign mode in Mario Kart, Diddy Kong gave us one in 1997 and Crash Bandicoot had one in 1999.

It's a bit better than I was expecting: being able to unlock missions on top of the other modes.

But, I think it's still gonna be lacking compared to a full SP mode like DKR had.

Worth it maybe in the bundle, full price on its own? Possibly not but that's just IMO..

The $80 price point has me on edge, but it feels like a full game that I can at least sink a good 10-20 hours into. I'm on the fence and I know it is a steep price for many other people... It looks really nice, I just hate how much it's going to be.

you're completely right, the only thing enticing me about it is the freeroam and the ability to just zone out and drive around a bit after work. However, even that gets stale, and then you move on. The 80 dollar price tag isn't worth it.

Yeah I'll be picking it up in the bundle I liked what I saw and Mario kart is a huge winner when it comes to gaming with the family.

I just won’t add to the success of standardizing games for $80. I’ve got a bunch of games I’m interested coming out then on other platforms. I will get this and the Switch 2, but not until some Black Friday deal. I got this bad feeling I’m gonna be black friday’ing most of my game purchases after all this launches.

One game coming out soon that I pre-ordered for less than $50 was Expedition 33. First Berserker was like $60 I think. I just can’t believe Nintendo is ushering the $80 standard, which you know 2K will do with GTA6, or I mean why stop at $80, why not go to $100 with it? I really hate this.

It’s perceived value though. What’s worth “that price” isn’t necessarily worth “that price”’to everyone. Otherwise, everyone could argue every game is “worth $100.” Hell, maybe some people feel a game could be worrh $500 because it’s the only game they play for an entire year.

So, I think the way you’re looking at it is misguided. Unless you don’t mind paying $100 for every game whether you feel the value is there or not because I guarantee you someone can say the same thing you did about any game.

I mean we could argue this with movies. I think some movies could be “worth more” than others, but I don’t see how anyone can judge that as a standard since it’s not indicative of everyone’s perceived value.

There’s been a set standard and this industry is just pushing it as far as they can. The only way it gets reversed if if consumers don’t give in and it forces them to reduce the MSRP.

Nothing new they shown are worth $80, 11 years and all they can come up with is some tacked on open world and doubled down on multiplayer.
Fans happily bent over for all this is just sad.

Pretty much, but I've been thinking this for years.. Where's the content?? It's no wonder many think MKDS is the best one, likely because of the mission mode (apart from being first for online play) but then they didn't even bother to include it in further entries.

It's lazy, what we need now is for Playtonic to make a successor to DKR and it would likely show them up again.

Nintendo is really creating an absolute shit show with the release of the new switch and everything around it. It’s just complete and utter incompetence at every angle!

Don’t get me wrong I have a switch 2 MKW bundle pre-ordered but I’m constantly questioning whether to cancel it… Bizarrely the main reason I haven’t cancelled is because I simply can’t bare using the eshop on the original switch anymore. It’s insane how Nintendo are handling everything at the moment. It’s so bad that you really have to question what’s going on with the people in charge. It’s an absolute car crash at the moment!

As a huge mario kart 8 fan I'm very cautious of this game, to me the tracks look too wide and with 24 racers I'm just not fully sold yet, hope they didn't make it too casual friendly at the offset of experienced players. It's hard to live up to near perfection from 8 and it's massive now 96 track roster, I'll withhold judgement for now but I feel a bit underwhelmed by the obvious 30fps in split screen and emphasis on this open world stuff over putting more tracks in the game, hopefully DLC will beef it up.

The blue shell alone unwarrant this many players to begin with. Imagine even 10 blue shells being shot on the last lap

I'd assume there would be lots of rebalancing weapons to avoid this like bullet bill powers for example are exclusively for racers in last place you might see that change to last 3 racers as a example but i feel like we're seeing more routes per track and lots of variable tracks similar to a few courses they experimented in with the mk8 dlc

mario kart should be completely focused on casual players, the "pros" should be an afterthought and like in mk8, that game actually had a lot of things you could master to get faster, which casual players wouldn't pick up on.MK should be a party game first and anything else is a bonus. Same with smash, even though i like to tryhard in that game and would love for them to add more things to facilitate competitive play, I'm not oblivious to what the target audience is and what the game is at it's core.

Essentially by everyone’s comments the game looks good. It’s just the price that sucks.

Nintendo looks at Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 at $100 version being a top seller on PSN. Along with the $100 version of Indiana Jones, along with the $100 version of COD a few months ago. Yeah…they are willing to pay $80 for Mario Kart if they are willing to pay $100 those games.

I think that's a great point Nintendo don't want DLC to create a divide for racers in this game where it's meant to feel like a more connected world so a higher base price does accommodate that future development funding
