The price of a PS Plus subscription across all tiers will be increasing on 16th April 2025 in 15 Latin American countries, Sony has today announced.

PSN is a digital service and isn't subjected to any kind of tarrifs.

When I look at Brazil, the increased price for PS Essential new users annually is equivalent to $61 USD, monthly is $7.50 USD. In the US it's more expensive. Just an observation that maybe they've been getting a better deal all along.

No, not every country has the same average salary as the United States. When releasing games and consoles, pricing should be based on the local economy and wages, which are often very different from those in the U.S

Online multiplayer needs to be free for consoles. Seriously. What doesn't make sense to me is how let's take for example Helldivers 2 and Black Ops 6, where PC and PS5 players share the same server. How is that PlayStation players have to pay to play and PC gamers it's free. You can't even argue that it's to maintain servers or stop cheaters. And then there's the ps plus "free" games, which for 100% of the time are games I either already bought on a deep discounted sale, played years ago, or games I'm not interested in.

i mean it's a bit different, I bet a decent percentage is buying it just for the games and don't or barely use the online features you get from plus, but yeah it's stupid that you need to pay for it but people are paying for it surprisingly. I don't think this is ever going away, which is so contradictory because as technology improves, it would start to become cheaper to host servers or whatever their excuse is to charge for it now.

If only we could have a console generation where one manufacturer offered online play for free, while the other charged for it. That way gamers could flock to the console with free online play and emphasize online how critical of an advantage that is. After all, if that generation happened and gamers and game journalists flocked to the console with a paid service and relentlessly hyped it up and treated the paid service as an advantage, we could only naturally expect that the other manufacturers would add a paid service. Too bad we've never been given that opportunity to vote with our wallets.

I'm glad I moved to PC. PC parts are quite cheap; in the long run you can just upgrade the GPU alone every 5 years or less.

Balances with more expensive games cause ya can't sell them. I'm PC myself too. But I bought AC shadows on console and it ended up costing me nothing after selling it. It's £59.99 on steam.

Hopefully they don't bite. The $30 to $40 increase that they did in the USA doesn't suffice seeing what Sony puts on plus every month are old mediocre games with an occasional decent game here or there.

If you buy a lot of games then you can't complain if said game is offered on a subscription.

Also, if a game you already bought is offered on a subscription, then by your own subjective definition it must be a 'good' game right? Unless you go out of your way to buy bad games.
