According to the Ask the Developer interview focused on the Nintendo Switch 2, the console was almost named the Super Nintendo Switch, but because SNES couldn't play NES games, they went the numbered route.
"The Barranquilla-based (Colombia) indie games developer KillaSoft today announced with great joy and thrill that their stylish third-person noir stealth action-adventure "The Shadow Syndicate", is coming to PC (via Steam and consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X, and the Nintendo Switch) in 2026." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
Nintendo has just released a System Transfer tool for Nintendo Switch, making it easy to transfer your data to the new console.
Wow, this is very helpful to me because I will sell my Switch 1 first before buying the Switch 2! Thank you.
I had some hands-on time with the Nintendo Switch 2 at an event in Toronto. From what I played, the system's launch will be a strong one.
From all the hype going down. This will probably be Nintendos biggest launch. The only BIG negative about the launch is the the 80 dollar games and key cartridges. Since this will be huge, it will only validate their pricing strategy.
These are the first 3 games I'll buy on the Switch 2. MK world, Fast Fusion, and Cyberpunk 2077(yes this is my first time playing it.)
Because that worked so well for the Wii U. They literally could have called it Wii 2 (Wii Too)
No Switch U was considered?
Stupid idea, glad they kept it simple and just gave it a 2. Calling it "Super Nintendo Switch" almost seems like a Pro upgrade and not a full generational leap, more market confusion that the Wii U naming caused.
