The first game had a similar assortment of offerings. People complain, but they can just buy the artbook separately.

I’m glad they include the keychain.

Isn't the whole idea behind a collector's edition having something tangible to actually... collect?

Kyizen44d ago

Yeah but what good is a disc when next gen console won't have a drive?

Kyizen like you don't have a brain?

You mean like the keychain, 15 inch statue, and letter from Kojima?

The first game came with a roll of tape packaged with the BB pod, and that was pretty worthless.

People made fun of the baby lamp, but it’s finally gone up in value on eBay. If the statue is of high quality, then OG Kojima fans will love it even more, because it’s much easier to display on a shelf.

No it didn't. Why lie?

Even the BB Pod replica was better detailed (I've seen the released close up version of the DS2 statue) and it came with a replica briefcase from the game.

Then you have a physical disc, steelbook and digital soundtrack on top which this game doesn’t have.

I have the Baby Lamp, and it’s in the case now. I played the whole first game with it against my chest, that way the baby noises coming out of the controller sounded like they came from the actual baby replica.

This statue looks like a comparable amount of quality/value, if not more. The baby actually doesn’t look like $160 up close (that’s the new retail price). I love my Baby Lamp, but it’s quality didn’t blow my hair back. This statue is exceeding that bar for me, even if it isn’t a super cool 1:1 replica of anything (my fav thing to collect).

Yes I’d like another 1:1 replica, but this game might not have a comparable possibility.

Ultimately, I’d rather pay for the artbook separately than see the statue be of lower quality, like they tend to be 99% of the time. It’ll look perfect next to my Venom statue, which was also a rare good statue packaged with a game.

Also, the keychain is cool, and the sorta thing a collector would like.

fuuck what.
for that price, id expect it to be included.

MIDGETonSTILTS1743d ago

You can have quality or quantity, or a $350 price tag.

I choose quality.

I’ve gotten statues before that sucked, and the included artbook didn’t make me feel better.

Go to Barnes and Noble for a book.

I really hope this does well, but I'm not sure it will sell even half that the original dud with the novelty/mystery of a brand new Kojima IP gone, and the polarising gameplay on top.

Always enjoy arcs like these in stories and video games. Let's you know the hero ain't some crazy overpowered superhuman. Well... it's usually when the hero has some kind of demon takeover typically in anime lol.

ehm okeeey.
i guess i get it, but shouldn't be a difficulty setting be the solution and not a skip feature?

StoneTitan13d ago

That is the difficulty setting ^^

Love the first game but the boss battles were crap, especially the Cliff ones. All Cliff encounters are exactly the same, only in different environments. Furthermore, you have to do the same thing 4 times! No different forms, no different patterns, nothing.

-Foxtrot13d ago

I mean that's a nice thought and all but if you are going to get the sequel to this I'm guessing you are going to be one of those fans who managed to do the boss battles in the original.

I don't think this is going to bring in new fans or ones who didn't like the first one in general.

I understand if it was a brand new story with new characters where you get a clean fresh slate to try and bring in everyone again but a straight up sequel...it has it's fans and I bet they managed to get through the first game no problem.

A weird idea for a sequel to have, since players need to beat the bosses of the first game, unless he plans on making the bosses more complicated this time around which I highly doubt. Honestly it's a horrible feature, for a game about the struggle of going around to deliver things, to let you skip fighting which is a part of the struggle.
