I laughed pretty hard at this, ty!! 🤣

GamerRN71d ago

I'll be happy if they just ground it a little more like 5 did. I don't want Just Cause-like rocket backpacks.

spicelicka71d ago

New England? Sounds boring aesthetically. Still there are soo many better settings to choose from. The Alps, the Andes, Australia, and so much more in Asia and Africa.

GhostScholar71d ago

There are actually beautiful things in that area of the country.

spicelicka71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

I'm sure there are beautiful things but I live in the same type of environment and I can tell you it's nowhere near some of the locations I mentioned, not to mention there's a lack of diversity. They've done Montana which has almost the same environments except bigger and better.

Profchaos71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

Yeah can imagine feel like we already got a US game they should move the franchise somewhere else

Edit I originally missed the new and I thought it was just England which I was equally like meh about

As an Aussie though I don't think Australia would make all that good a spot for a far cry game it'd have to be entirely outback based or bushland which would need to be exaggerated to buggery and blended which isn't something they typically do in the franchise

spicelicka70d ago (Edited 70d ago )

I think exaggerating and blending isn't a big deal if it's in favour of environmental diversity, just takes creativity. They didn't really do central cities before until Far cry 6, and didn't do ancient stone age until Primal. No reason to restrict themselves to what's "typical" especially if it's their chance to reboot the franchise anyway. You have dry outback environments, mountains, beaches, rainforest, and such diverse wildlife which is a big part of Far cry. They could even split it over 3 locations and include Tanzania and New Zealand. Anything is better than New England.

isarai70d ago

It's even in the title 🤣 like Far Cry is literally referring to the premise that you're supposed to be in a dangerous situation a FAR CRY from anything safe or familiar and you have to adapt. New England is like super tame and very familiar as it's not really distinct in any way

Rebel_Scum70d ago

Australia as a landscape to travel in is generally pretty boring tbh

-Foxtrot71d ago

This just sounds like Far Cry 5.5

porkChop71d ago

That's what I was thinking. I was hoping for something like Australia, Spain, or Portugal.

isarai71d ago

I hope they actually try with this one instead of repeatedly just Frankensteining Fc3s corpse into something "new" like literally every entry since 3

Profchaos71d ago

Bring back jack and the mutants

The_Blue71d ago

May work if it has a Black lead...
s/

isarai71d ago

I mean FC2 had nearly every major ethnic branch to choose from. Man i miss FC2, that era of Ubisoft was amazing

cluclap70d ago

Really bro? Shouldn't matter what color the lead is as long as the game is good.

Far Cry 7: The Case For a Complete Switch to Third Person

The next Far Cry game has been the subject of speculation, and its predecessor makes a solid argument for full-blown third-person.

PrecursorOrb111d ago

It needs a solid argument for a reboot and a release every four or so years

RaidenBlack111d ago (Edited 111d ago )

Well every mainline FC is kinda its own thing ... so reboot for this franchise makes less sense.
And I also support the every 3-4 years idea for both AC and FC. And that's kinda exactly the situation now for FC.
FC6 came out in 2021. If we aren't counting 2023's Avatar (lol, obvs), then even if FC7 comes out in 2025, there's still minimum 4 years gap between the mainline releases. Hope it stays that way i.e.
FC6 got no spin-off like FC3, 4, 5.

PrecursorOrb109d ago

It’s crazy that they take off that long for far cry and it still feels like a reskin. I haven’t felt real innovation in that series since 3. Every assassins creed has felt bloated now and the only one in recent memory that wasn’t was mirage but that one felt pretty boring to me as well since it was the exact same formula from the others. I wish they could make climbing feel new again like it felt in the very first creed game

Hereandthere111d ago

First Person games are limited, far cry should have always been 3rd person.

Rebel_Scum111d ago

Dont see how the switch would make it better tbh.

Green-Smurf111d ago (Edited 111d ago )

I said this about Halo. They should have made a 3rd person Halo because I never felt like the badass they portrayed master Chief to be playing through his eyes. I would've loved to have seen the CQC, cover shots, ground pound, and stealth kills from a 3rd person perspective. When you played as Marcus Fenix, you felt that shit. You saw what a bad mf he was.

GhostScholar111d ago

I don’t want third person. I’d like a far cry in a frozen third world New York with sort of the tone of the division.

RaidenBlack111d ago (Edited 111d ago )

Some IPs are defined by the vision perspective and FC is one of them.
Plus, difference/uniqueness will diminish between FC and AC(within Ubi umbrella, minus guns) or Division or Just Cause or even like Days Gone.
Plus, FC is one of the few first-person IPs at Ubi. They already converted Ghost Recon to 3rd Person.
And Wildlands & Breakpoint were Ubi's 3rd person Far Cry(s), lol.

Far Cry 7’s ‘Game Over’ Screen Can’t Literally Be a Game Over Screen

While Ubisoft may be taking a risk with one rumored Far Cry 7 mechanic, it needs to pay dividends even if players fail in the game.

You know what the problem is with Ubisoft? They ran their big IPs into the ground. I should be excited about a Far Cry 7, but it just feels like the same old Turkey Sandwich. I don’t want to knock it before seeing anything, I hadn’t been interested in an Ass Creed game until Shadows was shown, but whenever they announce a new Ass Creed, a new Ghost Recon, and new Far Cry, etc., it’s just impossible for me to really get hyped.

jambola114d ago

yeah
even for me, who latched onto this franchise longer than a lot of people
6 was pretty dull and it's hard to care

RaidenBlack114d ago (Edited 114d ago )

Last FarCry I sorta got hyped for was 4 (FC2 is still goat, followed by FC3)
FC5 felt too bloated and FC6 felt like Just Cause in first person with a pet crocodile
ngl, I am a bit eager to see what FC7's about (not the time gimmick but the other stuffs). Tom Henderson's been hyping it. He aint that fake.
GhostRecon Breakpoint felt like vomit at some points but reading all the rumors about GR going old-school for next one also has my interest peaked a little bit.
And the recent AC Shadows combat and parkour gameplay videos are surprisingly decent tho, ngl

Trilithon114d ago

i agree. I remember watching tech demos being super hyped about assasins creed 2 and the farcry map editor etc.

today i feel nothing for ubisoft. wheres the originality, wheres the innovation, wheres the fun...

ubisoft will never get my money every again.

northpaws113d ago

Ya, their games are not as fun as they used to be, which is a shame, because I do appreciate their efforts of keep making single player games.

Profchaos113d ago (Edited 113d ago )

Yeah I was actually a fan of watch dogs it was never GTA level but it didn't need to be and then 3 came out as a busted experiment was totally garbage and they shelved the franchise as a result claiming it's got no fan interest it would have plenty of interest if they didn't throw in their experimental play as anyone crap that was never going to work

C-H-E-F112d ago

Agreed, my issue with Assassins Creed is that on the PS3, it blew up my PS3 Fat 60gb, it took Sony 5 months to warranty it then as soon as I put it back in to play it blew up my second PS3 (actually caught fire on both of my PS3's). Then on my PS4 I forgot the first AC to come out on the PS4, I had bought that one, and it bricked my PS4. So I vowed to never buy another AC game again. Maybe i'm just cursed LOL.

As far as FC, FC was an amazing game, but the storylines aren't intriguing anymore. It's only so many times you can have the same storyline arch. Also the voice acting isn't that good. I believe FC3 was the last good FC. I've bought all of the others except the one with the cave people and they were all flat no depth.

Ghost Recon, I'm not going to lie, I didn't like breakpoint when it first came out, but after they did all of the updates to it, the game became my favorite military game (I managed to platinum it).

I think the issue with Ubisoft games (including the crew) is that they make these super larger games that aren't immersive. You don't feel connected to the world the same way you feel connected to San Andreas, Vice City or Liberty City. You don't feel connected to the characters or the characters story. You just feel like you're in a world doing things.

The division 2, for myself is following the Ubisoft formula as well. The Division was amazing, The Division II I struggled getting through it. I just didn't care about the storyline, characters, the world, anything.

It's like they try to fool us with a massive world, to distract us from the lack of depth of storyline, voice acting, gameplay mechanics etc.

If they would allow a coapp player to actually go wherever they want....then they would get paid.

Fonsecap114d ago

At this rate, Ubisoft will the one to get a Game Over screen

chicken_in_the_corn114d ago (Edited 114d ago )

I doubt the game will just end when the timer runs out. I'm sure it will continue without limits but will alter the story and change the ending.

Demetrius114d ago

Ubisoft has to learn it's half way to ps6/next xbox gen, make a thoroughly made gem already. Sheesh they rush way too much

Ubisoft Wants to Change the 'Far Cry Formula' with Far Cry 7 and Maverick

Ubisoft is aiming to do something entirely different with its next two Far Cry titles; Far Cry 7 and Maverick, an extraction-based shooter.

Pass if forced.

***player have to rescue his family [...] who have been kidnapped by a conspiracy cult who have been performing hallucinogenic experiments on animals and children. It’s said that the player has 24 real-life hours (72 hours in-game) to rescue their family, and the timer is reflected in-game by the player wearing a watch on his wrist***

That's a ton to digest.

-Foxtrot136d ago

Oh goody, just what people love in open world games, being forced to rush the game because of an in game time limit.

porkChop135d ago

"Pass if forced."

That's for Maverick, the extraction shooter. That's a separate game.

Story-wise it seems like FC7 might be returning to its roots. Those hallucinogenic experiments remind me of the feral abilities and experiments in the earlier Far Cry games. Ultimately I need to see the game and understand how everything works before I judge it.

I've enjoyed most FC games but the series has definitely become stale. The changes in environment, atmosphere, and gameplay additions just haven't been enough to offset the formulaic structure really showing through. The series needs a big shake-up.

Christopher135d ago

***That's for Maverick, the extraction shooter. That's a separate game.***

Yup. I'm talking about two different games. That's why there are two quotes from the article.

isarai136d ago

Prove it, put up or shut up, you guys have been basically Frankensteining FC3s corpse over and over passing them off as "sequels" for 4 games now.

TheNamelessOne135d ago

We'll see when they release.
Or the company might be in the ground at that point.

Time will tell.

gold_drake135d ago

its ubisoft
this story will change due to them not being able to actually implement them things into the game.

Juiceid135d ago

The far cry formula has been my favorite type of game. Sounds like I’m going to be sitting out the next generation of gaming.
