I think that if this doesn't get shelved, it will never be the game people dream of having. The high of ME2 hasn't been reached since, and it's on that mythical high bar that is likely impossible to surpass; let alone be reached by present day BioWare.

It might even have monetization practices, since that was the "believed" reasoning for DA: Veilguard's failure

I preferred 1 over 2 gameplay wise, plus it was darker in tone. I hope they go back to that instead of more shooter that 2/3 was

No. It’s an rpg.
Make it more rpg not less

cloganart29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

Don't know why you are getting downvoted. You are absolutely right.

Mass Effect combat should always have a layered approach that benefits from teamwork, with a good combination of Tech, Soldiers and Biotics and navigating + utilizing the environment.

Andromeda did fast action-combat already and it was borderline rejected by the majority of the playerbase.

Rebel_Scum29d ago

Andromedas combat was probably the only thing universally praised. I liked it. tbh I dont think they should change much of the way Andromeda played for 5.

The story, characters and missions/side missions were the worst part of it. And those f’n vaults ugh…

@Rebel_Scum

Hopefully they'll find some middle ground between the two. The extra verticality was great. But personally, I prefer being able to pause the battle when opening the combat wheels/menus, rather than just slowing down events. Allowed for much more careful and tactical gameplay.

The one thing I hope they fully bring back is a proper class system. Andromeda's system where you could mix and match across all the classes is a perfect example of a system that gives you more freedom, but ultimately reduces the uniqueness of each playthrough.

This article is complete trash. It's an rpg not an action game. Not everything has to be super fast paced. Sometimes methodical works better.

Bioware's Economy Game Designer (Harel Eilam) is now assisting in the development of the Battlefield franchise as Narrative Designer - as part of Electronic Arts' Rotational Experience Program.

EA needs to rehire the game director of Dragon Age: Inquisition. He did an outstanding job and I hope he can bring those same story beats to Mass Effect.

I don’t know if quality is at the forefront of their mind

Rebel_Scum104d ago (Edited 104d ago )

Just dont stuff it up. Keep the Andromeda gameplay along with planet exploration with the Mako. A great villain, great story, characters and a new mysterious threat to fight against and we’ll be good.

Success? Hope for next Mass Effect, none. The writing and characters in Veilguard are horrible. There are no choices and the gameplay is repetitive.

Armaggedon167d ago

Besides tasdh, I like the characters here better than BG3 cast. The writing isnt that bad, outside of a few cringe moments, which BG3 also had. There are choices, and someone does not seem to know what repetitive gameplay is.

Kaze88162d ago

better cast than BG3, sure :D You cannot have different stance in anything on Veilguard, specially when compared to BG3. All you can say is Yes you are right with 3 different ways. Only decisions in Veilguards story are done in last hours of the game, other than those there are no real choices. "Someone does not seem to know what repetitive gameplay is" right back at you. You have your primer and teammates ignite/explosion combo, then rince and repeat that from first hours to the last with enemies that are way too spongy. If you like the game, have at it. but don't lie how the game is for most of us, we have way better options already.

Armaggedon161d ago (Edited 161d ago )

I didnt say they were better, I said I liked them better. Difference. Rense and repeat is the name of the game with most games. The only thing BG3 had to truly mix things up are the cutscenes you get when making choices.

Hotpots168d ago

What success? Rumors are it doesn’t even sold 1 mil copies, it’d be easy for them to deny it by announcing sales number yet they haven’t done it.

Armaggedon167d ago

What success? Maybe solid critical reception? Maybe having got out of the decade long struggle that they have been in. Just a guess.

rlow1168d ago

This is a fluff piece to possibly gain favor with the company or they genuinely liked it.

Mass Effect, according to rumors have the same people working on it as Velguard. Hopefully that rumor is wrong, but same studio so it makes sense.

BioWare of old died a while back.
