Next God Of War Title Will Reportedly Feature A Young Kratos' Journey Back To Greece

The next entry in Santa Monica Studio's God of War series will feature a young Kratos' journey back to Greece, based on a new report.

I can’t see them going through all that character development for Kratos only to go back and shoehorn in another Greece adventure. That’s when the franchise started to get fatigued.

I can see them doing a remake or remaster, maybe even flashback levels but a completely new game…

I’m hoping we keep going forward and the Kratos we have now goes to Egypt.

A prequel from before Kratos got his ashes could be explored. But the story would likely revolve around an angry, warmonger slaughtering both enemies and innocents.

While I really like the newer GOW games, I have to admit I miss the level of violence that the other games (GOW 3 for example) had. I hope they go back to that.

Hate to admit it but I think this is their way of “woke-ing” Greek kratos. Think about it. When they released god of war remaster the media scored it lower because his character didn’t age well to today’s standards. Even went beyond to call Greek kratos a misogynist lmao

Yeah I really want to see Kratos and Freyas relationship continue, their character development for themselves and between each other has been fantastic.

Agreed, by the end of Ragnarok I was really done with Atreus but wanted to see more of the Kratos-Freya dynamic.

Yeah this isn't a good idea. I think if they were to do something like a Netflix anime it would be a really good premise for the first season. But the games themselves need to move forward. We can't just go back to Greece after opening up that world to new mythologies.

GoW without kratos is uncharted without Drake, crash bandicoot without Crash bandicoot, tomb raider without Lara croft, halo without master chief, Jersey devil without jersey devil, gex without gex, hitman without agent 47 etc. I won't even buy it.

The Greece prequel should be a current-gen only one-off.
After which the GoW team should focus on continuing after Ragnarok.
(I am more interested in Barlog's sci fi project anyways from Santa Monica.)
Anyways, GoW got me thinking, 'Heavenly Sword'. The PS3 God of War-esque. A sequel was planned but later scrapped. Now that companies are sorta collaborating a bit more. Higher ups can decide on reviving the IP. Sony has the license, Ninja Theory needs work, both MS and Sony can benefit (would be multiplat).

I mean technically there's nothing stopping it from being both being the bridge between the third game and the fourth starting in Greece transitioning through Egypt etc

I'm torn. I loved the Norse Adventures of Kratos & Son, but an opportunity for him to revisit Greece is pretty tempting.

Jus remake the Greek saga 1:1. Then move forward from the current Kratos. They can't do Jaffes Kratos. Especially now and days.

This only makes sense to me if the statement about Nixxes remastering the original titles is true. If that is the case, then great. I wouldn’t mind a trip down memory lane :)

Otherwise, keep the story moving forward and explore new worlds. There’s still life in old Kratos, and plenty of more gods in other lands to mess with.

I miss the older God of Wars. These new ones, while good, are kind of boring to me. I still remember some of the crazy bosses from 3 and how visceral sh*t got.

The 1st 3 are my favorite games of all time. But 2018 and Ragnorok are not boring and the combat is fire. I like both types of combat. Remake the 1st 3 with the original combat then come back to the present Kratos.

Actually i would like to see kratos go to India.
India has some really fascinating mythology. Only thing is it’s also religious for the Indians, so better don’t offend the Indians… so maybe work together with the hindu gods against the evil Asuras?

I think if they see a game like The First Berserker: Khazan sells alot of copies that they would really go a make a god of war remastered or remake collection theses companies are kinda scared of backlash so I could see them pulling back in some areas but wih games like stellar blade i can see this happening

I miss the old God of War games, don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the new ones but it's just not the same, sometimes boot up my PS3 and play GoW 1 + 2 HD, still great games.

I heard another report that based on hiring it's supposed to be about egypt and the travels he made to the north?

I really hoped that, because the small bit you could read about egypt could work. And I guess that could have flashbacks to before and follow a young Kratos in some instances.
