Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (PS5) Review - CGMagazine

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 had a lot of promise, with its gripping story and beautiful landscapes, at least until the technical issues started showing up and completely ruined the experience.

“I experienced six major crashes, each costing me about an hour of progress. One quest became completely unplayable after a crash prevented a key item from spawning, forcing me to restart the entire game just to continue.”

Damn! I so hope the day one patch fixes this!

MrNinosan81d ago

He should probably clean his PS5.
0 crashes here after 200+ hours, and my 2 colleagues haven't had any crashes either.
2 of us played on Pro, 1 played on PS5 (2020).

Christopher82d ago (Edited 82d ago )

Glad to see someone calling out technical issues, even if it's not the same for everyone else.

Edit: I notice this is on PS5 while the others not having the issue are on PC.

MrNinosan81d ago

Me and my colleagues has over 500 hours together, with 0 crashes on PS5 (this since beginning of January).
I doubt there is a real issue, more, a dirty PS5 or fake outrage.

Christopher81d ago

Obviously I should take point of the guy on Internet only and not listen to the guy who reviews for living and has no reason to review the game poorly because no one pays you for poor reviews at all. Especially since this guy on the Internet seems more interested in making sure this guy is a fake than the other guy is in shoving down my throat that it isn't.

MrNinosan81d ago

@Christopher
Yeah, or take point from the guy on the internet who actually played through the game without any agenda against the developer.
And if not me, Digital Foundry of the other 30+ outlets that haven't reported any technical issues.

Don't you find it strange that it's only the 2-3 outlets that don't like the game, who had crashes? 😏

*** Yeah, or take point from the guy on the internet who actually played through the game without any agenda against the developer. ***

How do you know they have an agenda against the developer. Show me the receipts for this claim.

Eurogamer - https://n4g.com/news/265251... - didn't have crashes but gave it a poorer review. Was a PC Review

Video Gamer - https://n4g.com/news/265252... - didn't have crashes but gave it poorer review. Was a PC review.

I think you are mistaken on this. I don't know why you are so heavy to defend the developers rather than accept that, hey, maybe this one reviewer did have issues. The fact that no one else mentions it doesn't mean he has it out for them but perhaps he's that few people who might encounter issues. I've played a ton of games where everyone was crashing but I was perfectly fine. I'm certain the opposite could be just as true.

It's obvious this review isn't changing your mind. Why care about what one says if you disagree with it?

I will get the game at some point but my high quality backlog is fairly large and wasn’t planning on getting it for a couple of months no matter what. It may be longer now until issues are fixed

babadivad82d ago

I could not buy another game for a year and a half easily and never run out of stuff to play.

jwillj2k482d ago (Edited 82d ago )

I’ve seen reviewers looked past the worst of bugs in video games (I’m looking at you stalker 2) yet this person can’t seem to do it.

I wonder if they’ve done so in the past with AAA releases.

This is the new norm that we’re forced to accept so review the story, gameplay mechanics and overall fun factor.

The bugs will be patched.

Armaggedon82d ago

Ultimate there will almost always be a bias on the persons part. I know what you mean, because everyone hand waived the witcher 3s bugs and never mentioned them. If people like something, they will put up with a lot. If they dont, anything can set them off.

NettosGameRoom82d ago

Speaking from experience, it really comes down to what the bug is, if it will be fixed, and how bad it really was.

There has been times where I ran across a major bug that hindered my progress and discussed it in my review's rough draft. But after reporting the bug to the devs, they typically ensure me it has been fixed for the final release, and I take that part out. If they don't? Then I'm talking about it! Especially if it is something that is a legit problem, and people need to know about it. I can't sit here and say "the game is great with no major issues" when I got stuck or lost progress because of glitches.

It sounds like in this case it was some pretty big issues, and those issues are still going to be there during launch. I know I wouldn't be too happy if I had to redo countless hours. Especially when you're being rushed to finish the game before it comes out lol

jwillj2k482d ago

Take it with a grain of salt but other sides are given the game 9 out of 10. Someone has to be wrong.

anast82d ago

It's most likely a 7 game.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (XS) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "In keeping with this world, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is like swearing fealty to an inconsistent liege-lord. On the one hand, you're absolutely proud to be a bannerman for what this series' foundation represents – its fusion of realism with game mechanics, the simulative world, and its role-playing depth; on the other hand, you see its mismanaged storytelling and design foibles disrupt those spectacular highs. Nevertheless, Warhorse Studios has made a behemoth of a game that would've made a less-experienced or less-talented team fold under pressure. That much is certain. And though I can't necessarily affix this momentous sequel as a new "gold standard" of the genre, it nonetheless earns your loyalty."

Took a break a couple weeks ago after arriving in Kuttenberg. Then a patch broke a main quest. Hopefully it’s fixed now.

coolbeans33d ago

Damn. Have you tried reporting the issue to Warhorse for some potential workaround?

Even though it'd set you back, perhaps you could load in one of your earlier auto-saves where the main quest wasn't broken. It sucks, but at least it wouldn't be a full reset.

P_Bomb33d ago

They acknowledged it on Twitter. Haven’t read the latest patch notes tho so it might’ve been fixed. Some peeps were rolling back hours of saves! Me, I just took a brief hiatus. I’ll check in on it later tonight.

coolbeans33d ago

Gotcha. Well, fingers crossed that the problem has been rectified.

coolbeans33d ago

That's what annoying to me: its scope, interlocking systems, and so on *should* make it an easy shoe-in. I just don't think it reaches that final hurdle.
