Report: New Battlefield Game Private Playtest Starting Very, Very Soon

The new Battlefield playtest is starting soon for content creators, so expect EA to talk about the latest game in the franchise soon.

I got an eye on this one, on paper it sounds like they're actually trying this time, but we'll see. I miss having BF as my main MP game, but 5 was trash till the very last update, and 2042 is just trash period. The fact that it was built to have a ross play mobile port makes so much sense why it is the way it is

Battlefield 5 was quite good but I didn't like it going back to ww2 period because the assortment of weapons were quite limited. I know it didn't do well because of all the drama and whining about authenticity which was just coded language which is a lot of the same thing affecting some games today. Im of the belief the next battlefield game will be amazing because of certain lessons learnt from the recent failures. Bf2042 is a lot better now but the game should have launched like how the game is now.

Im one of those that don't like force fed agendas, and even I was confused how 5 got hated on since it's announcement. Ok a female soldier in a fictional story that is only based on the ww2 era. It's not like it was a documentary where the real life character was swapped with another gender. I don't like woke stuff, but I don't like the anti woke attitudes either to an extent.

While i didn't have much issue with it, i completely understand why people were. They emphasized "Authenticity" constantly with the marketing for the game, and the woman was only part of a bigger issue, although it looked silly to have a woman covered in random straps like a final fantasy character, with a prosthetic that functioned like a real hand wearing neon blue eyeshadow. But there was also the over reliance on including "experimental" weapons that never seen the light of day IRL, just for the sake of having full auto weapons. Which all would've been fine if they didn't keep beating that "authenticity" buzzword drum

TLDR: they promised authenticity and didn't stand by that claim.

I recall EA talking down to the fans and arguing about their direction with anyone that disagreed it was a disgusting time from both sides for bf v and that opening trailer you have to admit did it no favours

It's EA .... so they *might* get my money 6 months after launch ... after the pre-order fiasco of 2042 I have lost faith in their capacity of coming up with anyrhing near the same level of involvement of Battlefield V (one of the best in the serie IMHO).

BF5 was great and still is. 2042 Is still absolute raw, hot garbage though!

I second this.
BF1 to BFV plan was perfect. Transitioning from WW1 to WW2 was a great idea. Looking at the updates you can guess they had grand idea of adressing every WW2 theatres in detail. Hence they were not rushing with the theatre changes. But all the modern-war bros cant aim without scopes/ACOGs. Their constant whining and the initial bugs led to the abrupt death of BFV.
And what we got? A hero shooter BF that looked worse than BFV. And the result? Spike in BFV player numbers.
Just stupid.
(You can always save a project. Look at No Mans Sky and FO76. Just have patience and communications)

Yep. There's just nothing that scratches the same itch as a good battlefield game. Too many games now are just chasing the boring extraction shooter/PVPVE fad.

The thing is that most of the devs from the BF glory days have since left DICE. Whatever game this ends up being is going to be very different. I'm not saying it'll be bad, but don't go in expecting classic BF. This is more likely to be some live service game that's just built around the BF IP.

All the leads were booted, and replaced with veteran leads from respawn. Not saying thats a good thing for sure, but it could be

Yeah they have all their hands on it. One of the main cod guys on it too. The guy who made Warzone work. So their battle Royale could be fun too.

Do we already know if it's going to be set in modern battlefields or WWI, WWII or Cold War decades? I would love to play Battlefield again, it's been so long since BF1 made me truly happy

On a very positive note they have brought back Vince zampella for this one I don't think he's been involved for the last two entries so I think we're seeing a shift EA is hurting they know they can't mess this up after the last two flops
