This is it Let there be no doubt in anyone's mind that XBOX HAS GONE FULLY THIRD-PARTY.

The Xbox Direct presentation felt like a 'coming out' party revealing all these high profile games announced as coming to PlayStation. Only indie game South of Midnight isn't, and MS have already said that's because smaller teams don't have the resources to develop multiplatform. But the Ninja Gaiden games, and the phenomenal audacious reveal of Doom the Dark Ages, best console version on PS5 Pro.

The most likely reason Microsoft last year didn't do a Sega-type reveal of going third-party is because it didn't want to collapse its hardware market, and likely at the behest of Phil Spencer, has taken these small baby steps so even the most hardcore Xbox creators with parasocial relationships to the brand (Colt Eastwood, Destin Legare, Parris, Danny Pena, Jez Corden et al). However, this interview demonstrates the 180 Xbox has done. Last year, Phil Spencer said only four games would be coming to PlayStation, now he’s saying he doesn’t want to ‘gatekeep’ Xbox games from PlayStation https://x.com/JamiesAct/sta... That’s the clearest sign that THE CONSOLE WAR IS OVER, all the Xbox games are coming to PlayStation.

There are many loyal Xbox content creators who originally didn’t believe this would happen, then were angry because they felt betrayed then have sadly accepted this chapter is now over. What’s crazy is that there are there are some that won’t accept it like the Iron Lords, Hapreet Singh and Doodle On Point who still deny Starfield will be released on other platforms. Although some of the extremists are reframing this as a win for Microsoft by profiting from the PlayStation community, which it definitely is! But it is also a sad day that signifies the Xbox hardware market is almost done. When this news hits the mainstream media the consoles’ value will drop like a tonne of bricks.

If/when Doom the Dark Ages sells many and most copies on PlayStation and relatively little on Xbox (because the game is included in Game Pass) then it will further cement the detail that means the business game has changed, that for Microsoft the most important console and lead platform for its games is no longer its own console - it’s now PlayStation.

GamerRN90d ago

I think Venom is getting way ahead of himself especially since Spencer confirmed they wish to focus on selling hardware as well.

But I do find it interesting that the best edition of Doom will on the Pro, although I'll be damned if I'm paying 70$ to check it out.

Makes me wish my GamePass carried over to PS

PhillyDonJawn90d ago

Vemon wrote all that just to contradict himself lol. He said Xbox is now confirmed FULL 3rd party. The very next sentence talks about a game thats not going 3rd party 😂 *palms forehead * cue sitcom music

Obscure_Observer sure ain't going to like this

fr0sty88d ago

One indie game, Philly... An indie game that they said the only reason is not coming to PlayStation is because of lack of developer resources, not because they don't want to put it out.

Talk about grasping at straws...

Because they have no choice.

InUrFoxHole90d ago

Don't forget why but also remember who's bringing that option to gamers and who isn't. This is the most pro consumer movement for gamers in my life time!

raWfodog90d ago

Yes, it’s definitely very much pro-consumer as you say. But ‘why’ also applies to that as well. Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s simply out of the goodness of their hearts. Survival mode has been activated.

Espangerish90d ago

The right thing to do for consumers albeit done for the wrong reasons.

RauLeCreuset90d ago

It's neither "pro consumer" nor "anti consumer."

Those are overused to the point of irrelevance buzzwords Microsoft uses to dupe people like you so that you praise them for acting in their own self-interest and attack their competition for not acting in Xbox's best interests.

OlderGamer1790d ago

Its not about "pro consumer" for MS...they have to, weak form of damagecontrol InUrFoxHole

Chevalier90d ago (Edited 90d ago )

@Foxhole

Wow way to reframe and double back with that damage control. You make it seem like this 'consumer friendly' BS was by some choice for the fans when it's nothing further from the truth. We literally told every parrot idiot that this day was coming and all we heard was oh no that would NEVER happen. Well hope you enjoy getting served crow. It was never an option any more for Xbox because shareholders wouldn't let them make $100 billion in purchases to keep these games exclusive to the one ecosystem where no one buys games are all. Gamepass put Xbox on this path.

RauLeCreuset90d ago (Edited 90d ago )

Here's what Phil explained to Destin about publishing on other consoles after saying he could not solidify that Starfield is staying put for the time being.

"There is no reason for me to put a ring fence around any game and say this game will not go to a place that it would find players, where it would have business success for us"

"But to keep games off of other platforms, that’s not a path for us. It doesn’t work for us."

(Edit to add link: https://comicbook.com/gamin...

Keeping games off of other platforms does not work for Microsoft. They are willing to port games if doing so is the right move for their business.

They are doing it because they need to do it, not this "pro consumer" nonsense. That cope is stale. Toss it.

PapaBop90d ago

Businesses don't do pro consumer movements, they just do what is necessary to stay in the game. Not that I'm complaining, loved the Xbox direct stream and I don't need an Xbox to play any of those games. Don't think for a second this would be the case if the positions were reversed with Xbox selling the same number of consoles as the PS5.

Knushwood Butt90d ago

@ FoxHole

Wow, you've changed your tune.
What with a certain observer AWOL (I suspect they forgot the password to their main account) it must be like pushing a snowball up a mountain.

InUrFoxHole90d ago

Lol i personally don't care why they do it. Ive said it enough times. If you think MS, nin, Sony care about you... you're drunk. They care about $ only. People like RauLe get all bent out of shape because in this case MS is making a pro consumer move. He can't seem to handle that. He'd rather be stuck to one box and play the games he's told he can play.

RauLeCreuset90d ago

"People like RauLe get all bent out of shape because in this case MS is making a pro consumer move. He can't seem to handle that. He'd rather be stuck to one box and play the games he's told he can play."

I see you're feeling especially stung by me using Phil's own words to debunk your Microsoft worship. You going to be okay?

I have multiple boxes. None of them Xbox, regardless of whatever talking point about everything being an Xbox Phil is prepping you to run with for your next cope.

I like the new thing you all are doing where you switch to the other side of an argument after being proven wrong and pretend you were on the right side all along. Let me know how that goes. The tides are sure to turn in the console war if you just spend a little more of your life acting like Obscure's discount stunt double.

outsider162489d ago

Lmao. The "why" is very important. If xbox were domination, trust me, there wouldn't be just a "wall", there would lasers, turrets on that wall for any exclusives leaving lol.

Chevalier89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

You don't care and go on with this BS defence about businesses aren't your friend and yet make multiple post about Xbox being 'consumer friendly '?! Lmao gtfo you flop more than a politician. So idiotic. If you didn't care then why make like a dozen posts? Just sound like butt hurt idiot.

InUrFoxHole89d ago

Rofl yall big mad. You're so stuck on xbox bad. That you can't even concede that games being able to be played on any console is pro consumer? Let me help you ladies out since you can't seem to grasp this.... fuq MS i don't care of they drown in a fire of gasoline. They never helped pay my bills. Same as sony and nin. Now that we established I don't care about companies... as a CONSUMER should I be constrained to playing what I paid for to only one console? No! That's stupid to me. Play halo/gears on sony. More gamers is better. I don't care that MS is last in console sales. They were forced into this? Great! I spoke with my wallet and they listened. Show me in my comments where I back tracked on this stance. Now mark my words... Sony will follow suit.

I think he's trolling guys. Spencer is Sony's best splinter cell operative

SimpleDad90d ago

Dude, Phil is gonna give Gears, Halo... what else Fable, Doom, Diablo on Playstation. I mean... I'm not in a hurry. His no exclusive strategy is great for me. I love him. Can't wait. It's not a troll.

S2Killinit90d ago (Edited 90d ago )

Aka MS going multiplatform to recoup cost of acquisition

MS execs need a translator

OG Destiny artist recalls Bungie’s “disgruntled” reaction to Halo 4’s art style change

Original Destiny artist Darren Bacon recalls how Bungie reacted to the art style change of Halo 4 by 343 Industries.

Bungie at that time became the most wonderful bunch of hypocrites in the gaming industry. Knowing this now, gosh the entitlement they felt was out of this world.

Nothing like buying yourself from Microsoft because you don't want to be the Halo Studio anymore, and the FIRST THING you do is sign your next IP over to Activision, for a DECADE, while they are in the middle of ousting the heads of Infinity Ward so they can exert even more control over COD while screwing out the devs at IW...

Should've come as no surprise then that Activision gutted the content of Destiny 1 before launch and was a horrible partner through Destiny 2, until history repeated itself and Bungie had to split from Activision only to wind up in the arms of another major conglomerate that also doesn't know how to handle these unmanageable devs.

Profchaos3d ago

Tti their credit they praised the technical abilities of 343 and I remember at the time thinking halo 4 was a huge graphical leap above reach everything else was rubbish when I actually got to play it but there was no doubt it looked good for the 360 and is probably the best looking game on the system.

But ultimately I think bungie has always had a leadership problem and going independent ultimately proved this it's only getting worse with studio heads being outed by Sony for abuse allegations seems like all bungies past success has been in spite of management not because of it.

But really I think the bungie we have today is not the same one we had in that Xbox era of Bungie

PhillyDonJawn3d ago

I liked the artstyle change. For the most part. Something looked worse but most of everything else looked better. Weapons and vehicles for sure. The wraith come to my mind instantly.
And how can they get mad when the bungie changed it with Halo Reach?

Sciurus_vulgaris2d ago

I know a lot of people dislike Halo 4’s arts style, but there’s thing about it I like and dislike. Personally, the Halo 4 design of Master Chief’s armour is my favourite depiction of the character’s armour.
