oh i didnt like the ingame characters stutter movement at all.

i hope this is not something they're gonna stick with. but given the very ehm, unfortunately release date, we'll see.

It's tailored on stop motion animation. It's purposeful. I love it. I really love what Compusion does with art direction. It's their own thing, against the normalcy of AAA games. But, I understand others don't. I'm just glad there are devs making games with this feel and atmosphere and taking artistic risks that others aren't.

so if you dont like this... I take it you did not like the Spider-verse movies as well?

I actually like the stop motion look. Cool looking game, but combat is not looking good.

I doesnt work as well when viewed on YT in a presentation in which you are also constantly changing to real people so it makes the contrast worse. But in game it should be much easier to get used to it

The stop motion effect can be toggled off if you prefer 4k 60 fps.

Definitely looking forward to this game.

The lore and story and combat are interesting, even though I'm not too impressed with the graphics. It has a little resemblance to Kena, but Kena's graphics are a little better than this one. But overall, I liked it.

South of Midnight Review | NoobFeed

NoobFeed editor Arysha writes - In the end, South of Midnight is a decent game with a rich Southern environment, distinct folklore, and a compelling Hazel tale. Playing with the platforming elements is fun, exploring the world is exciting, and discovering legendary creatures of the world.

I would be very curious to know then numbers on this game, probably very few people played it.

Steam: 1,438 all time peak. Good story and the art is okay, but the rest of the game is generic.

I just finished South of Midnight. I think it’s a solid AA, even though the combat could have been a bit deeper. I love a cross-over between South of Midnight and Psychonauts.

PrinceBaldwin7d ago

That'd be a really interesting crossover, mechanically. Like Hazel's "weaver self" can jump into the minds of Prospero locals struggling with trauma.

Doesn’t have to be pretext. I like the fact this game has its own identity. I cannot wait to try it

Putting aside the game for a moment, anyone else find it wild we're considering an 8/10 to be a 'flawed' game? lol

LiViNgLeGaCY7d ago

Well, considering 10 would be a "masterpiece", if you're taking two points off, there would have to be at least a COUPLE flaws, right?

The writing is so good at certain parts and than it will just turn around and drop the ball so hard. None of her comments towards the notes she reads are interesting and half the time they don't actually fit with the context of what was written. I am on Chapter 11 and finding it very hard to push myself to finish it at this point. Also I understand what they are going for but the way they present the mistreatment of folks is about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the face. Could have been done a bit better.
