It's time for the beloved racing series to evolve on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The Zelda series has grown even larger since its inclusion in Mario Kart 8, making a case for even greater things in the upcoming kart racer.
Always liked the idea of Mario Kart being some sort of Smash B but for kart racing. They should go beyond Zelda, bring in Metroid, Kirby, etc.!
NE: "We look at characters both new and old that we'd like to see in the new Mario Kart - possibly Mario Kart 9 - for Nintendo Switch 2."
They should consider testing to see if they could drop the MK title and do a mashup of more Ninty characters. If not then a story mode with some multi verse logic would be pretty dope.
We look at a hypothetical next entry in the Mario Kart series, and everything we think it needs to succeed in terms of features.
I really feel for Nintendo and whoever ends up developing the next Mario Kart and Smash. The amount of content and features in the current iterations is mind-boggling, and surpassing them in the sequels will require a ridiculous amount of effort and talent.
Mario Kart has been lacking a good SP mode since the 64 version, it was acceptable for the time kind of, but DKR did it much better. Hard to believe that Nintendo has given Mario Kart such little content in comparison, it has a good amount of tracks for the standard races but that's it. There's only so many times you can play it and then find it is a bit shallow..
Single player with a central hub just like Crash Team Racing which I found refined what Diddy Kong Racing did.
Another thing from CTR was the little things to do within races like the CTR tokens and the time relics which unlocked new courses later.
A course editor like what we saw in Modnation Racers
I’ll be amazed if they give us the same shit again and people let it slide, it’s about time they actually add onto the game in a meaningful way. The quality might be solid overall but it’s time the franchise expanded and doesn't rely on one new gimmick (Double racers in one kart, the Wii steering wheel, gliders, anti-gravity tracks etc)
It will be hard for Nintendo to top Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as in my opinion, it is the best Mario Kart game of all time. The transforming karts, the visuals, the great track design, the music, and the customization options have an actual impact on how your kart performs on each track.
The article mentioned they can't think of what could be the new feature for the karts, but they can always copy Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Those vehicles could transform into boats and planes depending on the conditions of the stage.
nah i prefer to not have to pay 50 bucks for a couple extra cars and maybe a race track if they're feeling generous.
On the one hand, no. Mario Kart should stay Mario Kart.
On the other hand, it's going to have to be something special to get me to stop playing MK8. They made it the ultimate kart racer with the DLC packs.
Mario Kart is Mario Kart. It does not need to emulate anyone else because it is the best at what it does.
No
I'd love to see some sort of HUB world introduced like what we had in Diddy Kong Racing.
