A prominent gaming industry analyst predicts that PS5 sales will continue to reign supreme in the US as the Switch 2 will suffer stock issues.

Guess the analyst didn't do his homework! Nintendo said it is addressing issues with shortages. They are going to launch with plenty of stock, and they are addressing scalper issues! If they do all that Nintendo should easily take the top spot.

Neonridr106d ago

Nintendo won't be launching until April at the earliest, which means the PS5 will have been on sale for 3 months.

It's not a surprise to say that it might not move the most units in 2025, however you never know.

Eonjay105d ago

We have no idea when it will launch. I heard as late as June but my prediction us by then because of the rumored MK9 holiday bundle. When it does launch it should win the first few months. By year end though a GTA 6 launch should be enough to rise sales of PS5 and Xbox. This, mixed with sales from earlier in the year should be enough to have PS5 come out on top this year.

Neonridr105d ago

@Eonjay - latest rumours were tied to some accessories from CES that had April launches that were supposedly in-line with the hardware. Regardless, the PS5 will be racking up sales until it launches, which means it will be several million behind by the time it hits shelves. Coupled with potential stock shortages means it's easy to say it won't move the most units for the calendar year (Jan to Dec) 2025. That being said, once it releases, it will sell like gangbusters.

It's Mat Piscatella. He's not just some analyst.

Mario Kart 9 is rumored to be a release title. If Nintendo has more hard hitters like that upon release, yes it is possible it could sell more this year.

Most Switch Nintendo fans are excited about Switch 2, and will pick one up ASAP.

@GotGame818

Sorry, but the release of GTAVI alone will ensure that the PS5 will be the best selling console this year.

Knushwood Butt105d ago

How will they address scalper issues?

badz149105d ago

By dreaming about it, obviously. Wishful thinking at best!

gold_drake106d ago

we'll see

these analysts have been wrong before..many times.

DarXyde104d ago

I think he's wrong. People have been itching for a new Nintendo platform.

And it's a handheld, no less. Right off the bat, multiple units sold per household. Nintendo just needs to play their cards right and I think they will, especially with the lessons learned from Wii U.

I think it's launching with some serious hitters day one or within the first six months. Metroid for sure. Possibly a big Super Mario game and maybe even a proper sequel to F-Zero GX (been barking up that tree for ages, but I really think they're ready to try their hand again). Also expect some huge third party games getting ports. Resident Evil, Devil May Cry V, Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor, maybe even Final Fantasy VII Remake and Dark Souls III.

Sounds very wishful, but I genuinely feel the Japanese devs were waiting for a more powerful piece of Nintendo hardware to port their games. Persona and Final Fantasy games on the go are legendary.

As a handheld with great reach in Japan and... Everywhere...I think it takes the year from the competition.

Open to being wrong, of course. Just my thinking and rationale.

I predict Nintendo will sell more at least on launch months. The PS5 wont be far behind though and eventually it will overtake the Switch. The switch will probably sell like hot cakes at launch especially if it arrives with a Zelda game.

5 bucks that its getting a package of the Switch Zelda games in a remastered version..nothing else until at least 2027.

Review - Blue Prince (PS5) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "Even if you aren’t a fan of roguelikes, Blue Prince feels much more like an elaborate puzzle box. There’s a satisfying feeling in making it further than you did before, finding clues to a puzzle, then stumbling onto another piece of that puzzle a few runs later. Blue Prince is certainly one of the most interesting games of this year. It takes a fairly novel concept in a roguelike puzzle game, adding elements of deckbuilding and base crafting. It all comes together for a gameplay experience unlike anything else out there today."

Remastered.....

Sony is now remastering games with 71s on metacritic.

Like that's a judge of anything
This game got scored before it was released.

andy853h ago

Days gone is 85+. It got heavily marked down at launch for bugs where as others get a free pass for that. It's a fantastic game.

andy853h ago

I spoiled myself by modding this game on my PC. Genuinely one of the best looking games I've ever seen. Whilst this remaster looks nice it just doesn't compare to that sadly. It shows the effort that these remasters could put in if they wanted

REDGUM3h ago

I so hope this game or DLC for those of us who own the original sells well.
Ive said it before, its an underrated game for sure & was unfairly judged upon release.
Please try this game if you haven't already.

For those who say 'i won't purchase digital only' you can pickup a hard copy for 5 bucks here in Australia, then add the DLC and you have a superb game for $20 or so.

Give it a shot, tell me I'm wrong After completing the game.

Game on gamers.
