Sony Highlights Biggest PS5 Games for 2025 in New Trailer

Sony has uploaded a new trailer that spotlights some of the biggest PS5 titles currently slated to release in 2025.

I’m sure you say that about this year and we know how entertaining, full of great games and surprises the Platform offered. I remember some downplaying a state of play that had helldivers 2, rise of the ronin and stella blade last year only for those games to go on and become cult classics or in Helldivers 2 case very popular. 2025 will be another good year for PlayStation and we hope all of them can have a good year and by “ we “ I meant gamers that actually own all 3 consoles.

Maybe, and correct me if I'm wrong, it's because GTA 6 does not yet have a release date or even a release window for that matter. Sure some say 2025, but I think even Rockstar won't commit to a vague release window. Might get pushed to 2026...

I'm underwhelmed by this. Probably many of those are really good games, but they are the same games over and over again, nothing new or interesting. May buy a bunch of those in 2026 or 2027 if I have time to clear my backlog in the next 18 months or so. With a family and busy working life, gaming is a rare pleasure. It would have to be something special to make it worth it, and my backlog has most of that special stuff already, albeit some of them are older games (which is fine because they run at 144fps and are all patched up).

They advertised Doom. From a buissness point of I view I don't think that's a good idea tbh. It's a MS first party all they've doing is lining up their pockets. It'll sell more on PS maybe that's what MS wants with doom.

I think from a business POV its more important to try to sell and promote your product to consumers through showing them all the new and established content thats coming, rather than worry about who made that content.

Well MS is like a parasite. They entered the host (Sony) and Sony is here multiplying money to said parasite (MS) with out realizing they're doing harm on themselves until it's too late. Not just Doom but all of Xbox 1st party.

Meaning from a competitive business point of view to harm MS is to not promote their products. Is what I'm sayin. Has nothin to do with Console wars.

Doom is one of gaming's most significant franchises that's been around for decades. Yeah it'll sell more on a hardware platform with 2-4x the playerbase.

I really wonder how anyone could expect GTA 6 to show up in any a trailer montage.

Noone, except for T2 themselves, will be allowed to give away any information about GTA 6's release date.

And regarding Xbox possibly getting exclusive marketing rights for GTA 6:

Unless T2 themselves only care about a huge (!) cheque from Microsoft and not so much about the Series consoles' install base and its popularity these days, Xbox could get it.

There's no way ruling that out.

But considering the success of the PS5 as a console, I'd be surprised T2 won't go with Playstation.

That's if T2 should be interested in any kind of such a marketing deal at all.

R* is one of those developers that move very mysteriously. Not even industry experts can pin point their next move. I'll say it comes down to the marketing not being ready. GTA releases in 2025 but their campaign hasn't begun yet and Sony doesn't dictate when to show off promotional material since it's not their game.

In terms of Xbox I agree. Take 2 said they don't want their game to be on a subscription service. Though all that could change if MS presents a huge check. I'm talking in the billions. 5, 6 billion. An entire company worth of money at their door step. Satya, I'm sorry, Satya Kotick will do anything to build up GP these days. It wouldn't be too far fetched that he'll throw a small country's worth of money at Take 2 if it means GP subscriptions reaching a insane number of new subscribers.

But even if T2 had their next trailer ready atm, there's no way I'd excpect either Xbox nor Playstation be allowed to put GTA6 into a simple trailer montage right now for a 2025 outlook - even with only the use of a snippet from their last trailer.

I'd be even surprised if T2 will show something new at TGA tommorrow, but it would be a bit, just a bit more imaginable.

If Microsoft offered them a marketing deal, I'd imagine the cheque would/should be much higher than Playstation's pitch.

Microsoft could easily afford a billions of dollar high cheque to get GTA6 into GP, or to get a marketing deal.

Then again:

Microsoft themselves weren't even ready to put CoD in GP with a discounted subscription fee.

Two weeks before CoD's release, they had ended the existing discounted deal again.

I don't think people at Microsoft are THAT happy with the performance of Gamepass. They know and see that there are still many people out there who just don't want "free" games or a subscription that in reality is a double-payment.

In the end, I personally can't see GTA6 entering GP. T2 will stick to their decision. If anything, maybe a marketing deal.

But there would be no other benefit for T2 except a huge cheque, since it's highly likely that by the time GTA6 is being released, PS5's install base will already be sitting at ~75m-80m units sold, while Series won't have even crossed that 35m milestone yet.

In a nutshell, this gen has been poor. Last gen was better and the current consoles released too early. I've said it before, but next gen will be exactly the same with £700+ consoles and £200+ controllers. £70+ games this gen, the bubble is about to burst.

I didn't even bother with a console this generation. 95% of everything released comes to PC or can be emulated at this point. I have a Series S, but that was just a gift and I only really use it when traveling.

What ever happened to Jade Ramond’s dev team with their game, Fairgames. I haven’t heard from it in a long time. I’m wondering if Concord’s massive flop had them rethink some things.
Other than that, it looks good with their single player line up. I hope to hear what’s coming from Naughty Dog..at least a title and date or some type of trailer. That, and if Wolverine might get a late 2025 release or if it’ll be early 2026.
