Ummm ok.....wheres the reviews then? How about unlocking the like and dislike tab on the youtube trailer Bethesda? Also why are the previews limited to a select few media outlets? A discussion the developer is not the same as actually playing the game....we really need to revisit the era of demos so that we can get the feel of a game.

We already know when the review embargo is… the game is not out yet..

I have no idea what you are talking about regarding “unlocking the like/dislike tab”, the trailer in both the Bestheda and Xbox channels have them.

“ Also why are the previews limited to a select few media outlets? ” … You mean like basically every single other game out there? Since when have previews NOT been only to a handful of media outlets?

The launch trailer didn't convince me, aspects of the game look stilted and last generation and I don't think the Harrison Ford copy cat voice is very good either. The character animation looked a bit dated for 2024 for such a big franchise.

especially since its essentially first person too right ?

i would have liked the actual gameplay to look way better than it actually does. visual wise

I think this is one of the most challenging things about taking a movie IP and turning it into a video game in the modern era. Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones in the same way that Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man.

I get that it is far to cost prohibitive, but if you don’t have the actor of such iconic characters providing the voice work or if the characters don’t look or feel like how they were portrayed in the movies, it really makes the game feel off.

For example, when the Avengers game came out in 2020, it was jarring when the character models and voice actors were different from what was portrayed for over a decade in the movies. The Avengers game had many problems, but one of the reasons it didn’t appeal to me prior to release and when watching the trailers was because the characters felt like cheap rip offs of what I had grown to know over a long period of time. They tried the MCU banter thing with different character models and voice actors and it just came off as an imitation.

I think this is one of the reasons Uncharted worked so well. We know the franchise is heavily influenced by Indiana Jones, but Drake is his own character and there were no pre-conceptions on how he should think, feel, look, and sound.

Lastly, the 1st person view is an odd choice when the main protagonist in the game is such an iconic character. One would think when using an iconic character, you would want to accentuate them by seeing them while playing. 1st person generally feels like you are playing as yourself. Which is a weird choice if a dev is paying for the use of Indiana Jones.

Just my 2 cents.

"and I don't think the Harrison Ford copy cat voice is very good either"

I don't understand why they didn't just do their own version of Indiana Jones and set in their own Universe without stepping on the toes of any lore built up across the films.

Start with his very first big adventure and go from there

Killa78188d ago

Because then it's not Indiana Jones.

😂

Course it is

It’s like saying the onslaught of different Batman TV, Film and Game products aren’t Batman because they do their own universes.

When James Bond recast after Sean Connery and the decades went on was it suddenly not James Bond? Come on
