PS5 Slim Price Drop Confirmed, $380 Until 24th December

Sony has announced by way of a new PS5 advert that the base PS5 Slim console will be available on sale at $380 until 24th December 2024.

I have to buy another one smdh, so yes please. My dog had puppies. They broke out and destroyed my psvr2, 2 controllers a limited run Abe's Odyssey game that I was keeping sealed. A half of trees.

Consoles not getting regular price drops has been one of the biggest losses from a consumer standpoint over the last 5-7 years. $20 off for barely under two months is pitiful this far into a lifecycle.

That has been unfortunate the last two generations. Presumably it is similar thinking to why Nintendo rarely cuts the prices of its major first party games or puts them on sale. If people are always expecting a big sale or price cut in a few months, they are always going to be less willing to pull the trigger. And then when you do a major price cut, you inevitably alienate everyone who bought the console right before. Presumably Sony/MS looked at data from the PS3/360 era and determined that the advantages of price cuts are outweighed by the disadvantages (from their perspective, of course lol).

Hmm... the digital 5 was $399 only to have the slim digital get a price increase to $449 and now it gets a temporary price cut to $379. So really its only $20 less than the original digital 5.

But.... unlike the original digital 5, you add on the disc option for another $80 and you got a full fledged 5 for under $500.
