The Guardian says: "It isn’t all bad. The main story is engaging enough, and throws a few interesting choices your way, as the three ruling houses of the planet of Va’ruun’kai vie for power."
Review - A perfectly serviceable DLC for Starfield, Shattered Space never pushes the envelope in any way, shape or form.
ScreenRant's Garrett Ettinger writes that "Starfield: Shattered Space promised to fulfill the expectations of Starfield fans, but falls short in more than one way and fails to deliver fun."
I'm in a weird position where I'm someone who genuinely enjoys Starfield and was very excited for the release of this but the expansion, itself, disappoints me.
As someone who doesn't hate the design decisions they made with Starfield and had a lot of fun with it, I did want the expansion to be something different and feel more like point lookout or far harbor, and shattered space really underdelivered as a legitimate fan of Starfield, itself.
Starfield: Shattered Space is a compelling but messy addition to Starfield and could be recommended to Starfield fans.
"The problem is, very little of what you’re asked to do turns out to be any fun."
"It’s a Starfield planet map like any other, with only the odd cave or cookie-cutter facility to explore, and it rarely rewards inquisitiveness with anything other than wasted time and the urge to swear."
"Occasional, very brief sequences do threaten to conjure an atmosphere of foreboding, but this soon gives way to the same bullet-sponge gunfights through the same uninspired buildings in return for the same loot. The unreliable quest markers feel inexcusable"
This is the problem with 90% of Starfield. The lasting memory of this game is just how disappointing and boring it is.
Remember when Phil said Starfield was “THE” game.
I agree with latching on to any and all bad press they can find the smear campaign for this game is ridiculous. It's good, not as good as skyrim but still and great and interesting time and attempt at a new universe. The sum of a Bethesda games parts still offer more than most AAA titles have offered in quite some time both in terms of content and mechanics I am thoroughly convinced the only reason people still hate on this is the media and the casuals that bought the new wii in Sonys console are hating as they might not get Elder Scrolls 6 so let's trash Starfield even though it has mod support, tons of gameplay, repayable campaign and continued support, and still more content than TLOU2, God of war and spiderman 2 combined. It's a game not an interactive movie, maine problem games journalists that don't play games reviewing games and fulting them for gameplay, what were usually here for, getting in the way or cinematic presentation.
