Mat Piscatella rebuked Tom Warren at the Verge for his salacious tweet that presented the PS5 Pro being available to purchase as some kind of failure for Sony.

You certainly live up to your name.

CrimsonIdol208d ago

Interesting account. Posts a few comments every year or two just to rage and sling inane insults and Sony fanboy nonsense, but dates back over 15 years. Who's alt account is it? 🤔

TheEroica208d ago

You are definitely the worst... I'll know who to thank next gen when consoles start at 700 bucks and go up from there. Twat.

InUrFoxHole207d ago

@CrimsonIdol
That's hilarious 😂. That's boss level trolling 🧌 right there.

Profchaos207d ago

Then I guess you want to shout your mates one to and all your family since it's so cheap to you

VenomUK207d ago

@meganick Thank you.

@crimsonidol I’m real. Sometimes I’m serious, sometimes I’m playful. Some years back I made vids - (not a big audience but I loved making them). I do make criticisms of fake or broken journalism. And enjoy all platforms.

CrimsonIdol207d ago (Edited 207d ago )

@VenomUK not you haha, "the worst". Sorry I should have been more clear. You've had some fair takes as far as I can tell. Certainly not inane anyway.

Edit: Or is this you saying "the worst" is your troll account?

High price and lack of a disc drive made it a no go for me. I have quite a few physical ps4 and 5 games already. Why would I want a console that can't play them.

Kekewei208d ago

Actually happy if it's the high price that scare off scalpers. I'd rather pay extra money to Sony than to scalpers, thinking about it...

neutralgamer1992208d ago

Buy it if you want and play it why insult others. This isn’t the same PlayStation anyway they have become full of themselves and arrogant like around PS3 launch

Full of remasters and remakes and going all in on live service games. This is the Sony that will make a horizon MP game but won’t make Killzone, resistance or socom

I'm not buying a PS5 with a detachable disk drive. Sony better get it together for PS6, I want the disk drive to be standard as always.

fr0sty208d ago

I think that's a dumb approach.... not everyone wants a disc based console, and if they can offer a cheaper digital only option, it's cheaper on them to not have to manufacture two different SKUs when they can enable you to upgrade the digital model to a disc based model instead. It makes better business sense for both them and the consumer.

DarXyde208d ago (Edited 208d ago )

I think having a backwards compatible console without a disc drive as standard is a dick move.

But that's just me.

-Foxtrot208d ago

The issue is because of company greed that discless option might not end up cheaper to us. They’ll skyrocket the price of a disc drive and physical disc based owners will end up being shafted.

Physical should always be put first and if it means having two SKU’s then be it.

It’s different for mid gen consoles or even slimmer versions but the base consoles should feature a disc drive version from the get go.

HansyJ208d ago

So his approach is dumb, but yours isn’t? So the approach of giving people who are absolutely in the minority a non-CD drive console? And make the majority of everyone else pay even more lol what’s the point of that that’s stupid

fr0sty208d ago

@hansy, you have it wrong. Including the disc drive is going to cost more to produce, which is why they sell the digital only console cheaper. So, by forcing everyone to buy a disc based console, those who don't need discs are forced to pay more. By giving the option of adding one, those who want a disc drive still pay what they otherwise would have for a disc based console, but those who don't need to are not forced to buy the disc drive. Sony also doesn't have to spend more money developing and testing 2 different console SKUs, one with a drive and one without, so it's a win/win for everyone. That's why it's dumb to oppose giving players the choice.

darthv72208d ago

Well isnt that interesting.... When MS first introduced a digital only alongside their disc based system... you'd think they were the monster with all the people coming at them with pitchforks at the ready. It did NOT matter that the disc system was right there for all to see.... it was the digital only that people saw and were mad as hell about it existing.

Now that Sony has offered a similar approach... its no big deal because "not everyone wants a disc based console". This is the perfect example of the double standard in this hobby. And it also shows the bias of certain platforms that people have. those who oppose XB will look at everything that platform does in disgust and proclaim their preferred platform as the way to go. And then when their preferred platform does the same damn thing... its all rosey and cheery and everyone should just accept that.

BULLSHIT!

If you are a fan of digital... fine, be a fan of digital. BUT be a fan of it across the board. Same goes for physical, be a fan of it across the board. No singling out one or the other because of brand loyalty. People are either for it or against it, there is no in-between. And if it means having to switch brands because of such ideas then so be it. Your first loyalty should be to yourself, not some corporation who does not give a crap about you. all they want is your $$.

fr0sty208d ago (Edited 208d ago )

Except... Sony isn't offering a "similar" approach, THAT is bullshit. Sony is offering digital and disc based consoles with the ability to upgrade one to the other, so that if you decide later you do want a disc based console, you don't have to buy a whole other console... or if your drive dies, you can just buy a new one and install it in seconds. The fact that people are mad that Sony is making it easier to switch from digital to disc is mind numbing... some people just love to complain.

lukasmain208d ago

Darth, it's not the same at all. You're dead wrong. Frosty said it best

ocelot07208d ago

@darthv72

I remember that well. I criticised it at the time. Not because it was digital. But because of how late in the day it was for Xbox one it was like a year or two before series x. Also the price was silly it was only £30-50 cheaper depending where you got it from.

It is also not the same as what sony are doing. Sony did well here is a cheaper digital only playstation. Here is one with a disc drive for £100 more. That's a nice choice to have. They then went one better. Here is a slim ps5 with no drive here is one with a drive. Oh but you are unsure what to go with. Get the digital and you can buy a disc drive attachment at a later date that's great!

I personally think they went a step better. Here is a pro it's a bit expensive no disc drive. But you can attach one at a later date if you want. Plus look at the crap people are giving the pro already. The haters would go into a coma of false outrage if Sony announced one with a disc drive for £800.

andy85208d ago (Edited 208d ago )

@darth yeah but you can't add a drive to it, and it was at a premium price. Barely less than the Pro with the same internals as the original only with more storage.

Neonridr207d ago

including something that can be bought separately and attached to the device isn't exactly asking them to complicate the production line. All this does is ensure Sony makes as much money as possible by nickeling and diming you for every accessory. Need a stand? That's $30. Want a disc drive? That's another $80.

Eonjay208d ago (Edited 208d ago )

How about you buy it separately so the rest of us that don't want it don't have to pay for it. Or just don't get it at all. Its not like you can Karen up a manager to make you a disc bundle simply because you won't buy it. Also, I actually really like that its detachable because if it goes bad, you don't lose the whole console!

fr0sty208d ago

That is another fantastic reason for a detachable disc drive... Especially since both my Ps1 and PS2 were bricked by failing disc drives.

INMATEofARKHAM208d ago

fr0sty, you can buy replacement drives fairly cheap.

fr0sty208d ago

And you have to take the console apart to repair it, not everyone has the technical knowledge to pull that off. Offering a detachable drive that plugs in with a single cable is far more user friendly.

TheNamelessOne208d ago

So the already overpriced console is actually better because the thing I already should have might break down, and that actually saves me money if the thing that's supposed to work breaks. The defense of this thing is unreal. A mid-gen upgrade that doesn't take into account that you'll probably have disc based games. That's extra.

NotoriousWhiz207d ago

^ Yes. Having something that is detachable is better than having something that isn't.

ocelot07208d ago

Wow selfish ain't you? Sony is doing something incredible by giving people the choice and you want them to go back to the status quo force people into things they might not want?

They did the customers great at the start. Cheaper digital console or more expensive with a disc drive. They still offer this now. With the pro they are just changing it slightly. Here is a digital console. But it you want a disc drive you can pay extra and attach it as well. Wtf is wrong with that?

crazyCoconuts208d ago

I'll tell you what... I'll sell you one with a disk drive attached for just $25 more.
If you don't want it to be detachable, I'll super glue it for another $5.

badboyz09208d ago (Edited 208d ago )

"so U want burga soda no friez😑"

Imagine if fast food chains started charging full price for combos with no sides.

crazyCoconuts208d ago

You didn't have to imagine... The price of a Big Mac has increased by 20% in just 5 years.
Inflation impacts nearly everything

jukins208d ago

Then you're FORCED to pay extra. What's the difference whether it's an option or not? Like ppl who bought digital at launch are now stuck having to buy a whole new console should they have the need. Detachable is better on the long run streamlines production and still gives an option. Guarantee it will be the same for ps6. At this point digital is at a 80/20 ratio. So catering to physical is catering to minority and that never happensb

kayoss208d ago

Let’s look at this in a different perspective. Sony has all the data regarding digital gamers vs physical disc gamers. Right now, it is reported that 83% of gamers are digital gamers vs 17% physical disc gamers. I’m a physical disc gamer, but like or not, we are now the minority. Sony knows this and are making disc drive as an option because it will make the console cheaper.
The only gripe I have with digital gaming is, “why are the games the same price as physical disks?”

Chevalier208d ago (Edited 208d ago )

@Darth72

"Well isnt that interesting.... Wait can the Xbox get a disc drive attachment later to open up more options later?! Oh wait it can NOT. So sit down because you're argument is absolutely 💯 idiotic. It's not even comparable. Series X special edition is only a $100 less than a mid gen upgrade so just think about that. Playstation at least you can get a disc attachment whereas Xbox you are LOCKED in to digital ONLY. It's literally comparing Apples and Oranges

Gamingsince1981207d ago

I agree with all your points but "it's literally comparing apples to oranges" because if it was literal, that would mean they are actually fruit, one being an apple and one being an orange.

CornholioX207d ago (Edited 207d ago )

You're gonna be disappointed if the PS6 is pure digital. They aren't forever, as VHS, DVD and one day Blu-ray. I like physical too but installing games like 150 to 200GB take at least 2 hours to install. No new disk drives will not be made and there's no disks made over 100GB, not even 8K blu ray players doesn't exist.

Mark my words, next gen will be digital. If you want backwards compatible to work, then go digital.
Or can be possible with disk drives seperate but no PS6 games with physical copies.

Honestly I thought it would sell out, but apparently ps4 pro didn’t sell out and that was a more popular console.

So I guess I’m not surprise.

Ive been debating weither or not on getting a pro but since it is not in demand I can wait.
