I really loved the game, and was willing to give the remake a fair hearing. However, no way I’ll be paying £60 for it. £30, maybe £40 at a stretch so I’ll wait for Black Friday and see if a discount can tempt me then

Sonic1881224d ago

Especially for an old game. The price is not worth it in my opinion. This game didn't even need a remake

InUrFoxHole223d ago

Yeah. The game is amazing! Really liked this and heavy rain

jznrpg217d ago

Heavy Rain is my favorite of this genre. That driving scene was a pain in the ass to get the platinum.

jznrpg223d ago

I’ll definitely get it again as it’s really good but I’ll wait for a price drop as well

Becuzisaid224d ago

Loved this game, but no way this should be a full price release. I'll get it down the road.

Why do they keep remaking PS4 games that don't need to be remade?

They waste their time on this movie game with no real gameplay when they have things they can remake like Jak and Daxter. How about porting native versions of GoW 1 and 2 that don't have to be streamed?

BlackCountryBob224d ago

Did I read somewhere that they’re making a movie so wanted to port it to PC to drum up good word of mouth.

Which wouldn’t be a problem if it was a £10 upgrade on PlayStation

Amplitude224d ago (Edited 224d ago )

It's completely remade in UE5 with new environments, all new character models, new story branches, a new orchestral soundtrack, a completely different camera system, etc

Not saying it needed to be remade, but a $10 upgrade is an enormous ask.

Still - why they did such a high budget remake of this instead of a sequel is a mystery to me. A sequel would work better with the movie too - anybody that sees the movie would want to buy the game to see what happens next.

Oh well. Hardly surprised. Sony are kind of morons this generation honestly

BlackCountryBob223d ago

@Amplitude, Fair enough, but I do question why any of those changes were necessary . Having played through the PS4 original 4 of 5 times, I can’t say I’ve ever found myself thinking the game needs an orchestra.

I’d have loved a sequel but do wonder if part of the issue is that even with all the Dark Pictures Anthology as well as The Quarry, none of them have got close to as enjoyable of a story and setting as the original Until Dawn. Wonder if they just don’t have any good sequel ideas

MrBaskerville219d ago

@Amplitude
The only reason for this, that I can think of, is for them to train a team in a safe enviroment before doing a sequel. If this team don't do a sequel, all this is highly confusing. They probably want to turn this into a full fledged sony ip.

Profchaos221d ago

This feels like one of those what were they thinking moments the original was a free early PS plus game on PS4 and most people who were interested would have played it already unless they were on Xbox at the time.

Then they turn around and ask full price for a movie we've seen before it's a bit much

I'm confused. Did they contribute to the writing of the movie?

darthv7211d ago

I think the game writes should be glad... the movie is not that good. Its connection to the game is in name only.

Until Dawn Remake.

Saved you a click.

OtterX14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

Boring. The original was a decent game, but not something worth revisiting. I guess this is alright for anyone who never played the original.

Now, Rush of Blood should have been the real priority for a remake on PSVR2.

adamwparker14d ago

Until Dawn remake, Death Stranding, and a random PS4 game?

Until Dawn was already a PS Plus game! And not even that long ago.
The fact that JUST BECAUSE an Until Dawn movie just released in theaters so SONY trying to push the name is not right for us long time subscribers.

CrimsonWing6914d ago

I mean, technically it’s the Remake. It’s possible that many missed out on the PS4 one when it was a PS+ game. I actually was interested to see what this one is like, but had no intention of buying it, so that’s a plus for me… pun intended.

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic167d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23167d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1167d ago (Edited 167d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger158d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.
