There's obviously some work done with character models and foliage but I thought the original looked better in a lot of scenes.

jambola211d ago

yeah, with half the faces and skin etc, sometimes it's just they look different, no better
sometimes remaster looks weird

bababooiy210d ago

Theres some shots that look faded or blurry in the remastered as well. Like 0:15 the buildings in the back are no longer visible. The lighting changes are weird ad are messing with art style imo.

Of all the games they could have remastered, this needed it the least.

FinalFantasyFanatic209d ago (Edited 209d ago )

It's not worth paying for, there's so little visual improvement, it's just slightly different at best, so I'm going to stick with the original.

Christopher209d ago

I wish they hadn't done some color changes. The detail enhancements are noticeable, but changing major elements of a model (like hair color) seem weird.

Rynxie209d ago

The original looks better. There was no reason to remaster such a recent game. So recent, that all they can do to make it look different, was changed the character models face.

2:09
Kinda liking the original in some scenes
IMHO, they shouldn't have remastered it and kept the original's style ... it has its own unique charm ... the first game was not build with the new lighting system in mind.
For PC players, since Nixxes is handling this time, the upgrade might be worth it purely from performance pov.

Video is 1.01, how'd you get 2.09?

RaidenBlack209d ago

The video embed was updated. The uploader changed it to a much shorter video with less pauses for some reason.
Check purple's comment above, he highlighted something from 7:22 mark from the earlier video.

Looks great in many places & imho the original maintains its charm & still holds up, I’ll gladly play HZD remaster on base PS5 over HFW on the pro.

Now that $10 upgrade cost for owners of the original is the right way to do it.
It’s also the ultimate proof TLoU part 1 was never worth $70. Whoever bought it at that price that owned the original got scammed.
Remember, fooling someone is easy, what’s incredibly hard is for them to accept they’ve been fooled.

Best Remaster of 2024

VGChartz's Taneli Palola: "We're living in the era of remasters today, with seemingly every even remotely relevant title of yesteryear getting its second - or sometimes third - turn at the spotlight. Yet, many of these returning names end up back right where they came from, lost and forgotten amidst a sea of other remasters, remakes, and reimaginings. Not the case with these four titles, which were given a new lease on life in 2024, and made the most of that opportunity."
