GTA VI Is By Far the Biggest Reason to Buy a PS5 Pro

The PlayStation 5 Pro may be pricey, but it's also going to be the best way to experience Rockstar's massively anticipated game GTA VI.

Thanks in advance to all the beta testers!

VenomUK222d ago

@TheEroica That’s claimed can be levelled at all the people who ‘beta test’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on launch day prior to its fully specced out PS5 Pro release.

GamerRN222d ago

I'm predicting 40fps at best ... I mean it's mostly CPU limited ... I'm curious though, and I can't wait to buy a Pro

purple101223d ago

People saying it’s cpu limited etc

Look the biggest downfall of GTA games has always been draw distance
& I believe that’s due to data streaming speed issue

And we all know ps5 and the pro, are absolute BEAST at moving data around.

I think we’re good boys!

Profchaos223d ago

I think you're probably referring to texture streaming over draw distance right so cars would pop in just ahead of you causing a crash and to be honest I don't think that's been a problem since GTA SA or VCS if you played the portable systems.

I feel like the current consoles should have excellent data streaming capabilities that will resolve all of these issues.

GTA games since IV have always used artistic methods like blur to hide genuine draw distance limitations and it worked well even as far back as GTA SA the heat effect was used in IV the blur was applied to mask it all and vc / 3 divided up the cities.

Bottom line is every modern console should be able to handle the game

fr0sty223d ago

That's where I'm at. I'm not buying all the "It'll be CPU bound" doomsayers, because nobody has even seen how the engine handles managing data streaming, AI, etc... we'll need to see video of it running on the hardware. Hopefully that will come before too long. The radio silence from R*, with no more gameplay since the trailer, kinda sucks.

Eonjay221d ago

Next trailer is said to be at the VGAs in December.

Chard223d ago

Yeah, the improvement will have to be substantial enough to justify the price tag - I'm currently skeptical we'll be looking at a 30fps vs 60fps difference.
I recently started FF7 Rebirth (on 30fps mode) - I had wondered if I would hold off for the Pro improvements but I'm not going to

Eonjay221d ago

Thats exactly what I did. To me, if I can play the game on Graphics at 60 that will be worth the wait. Pragmatically, the price is only $400 with my trade. I get the best possible way to play which should help hold me down until PS6. Four years is still a while before next gen so having the option to upgrade for just $400 is a no brainer.

blackblades223d ago

Yeah wait and see but let's also put the spotlight on the ones whining about the system also did the same with the portal and the dual sense edge. Those wasnt the only thing they B* about.

Tacoboto223d ago

GTA VI is being regarded as this generation's savior, it's getting a bit much.

At least wait until the second trailer.

Profchaos223d ago

GTA has long since transcend itself and it's a cultural phenomenon the trailer for it became the most watched YouTube video within a short timeframe.

So yeah I have little doubt that many consoles will be sold when this comes out

Eonjay221d ago

This gen doesn't need a savior. There are literally thousands of games to play. GTA is an industry in and of itself, and it will cause PlayStation sales to explode (especially as all the hold outs finally upgrade). The gen is just fine. This is just the cherry on top.

jznrpg219d ago (Edited 219d ago )

I agree no savior needed. There are so many games to play I need more time. If you only play AAA games maybe I could see that , there are less AAA than before but they take longer than ever to make so maybe try and play some smaller games

jznrpg219d ago (Edited 219d ago )

I’ve never played a GTA so it’s no savior for me. But I think this gen is as good as any —other people whine to damn much instead of looking for games to play.

GamingSinceForever223d ago

Better off waiting for the PS6 Remastered version.

fr0sty223d ago

that'll be 10 years off at this rate. the PS5 version won't even drop until the year after next now.

Eonjay221d ago

GTA is still coming in 2025.

where-eagles-dare222d ago

I agree, although I might hold out for the PS6 Pro Remastered version. I should be getting my pension about then!

DustMan222d ago

Then you'll actually get the best version of GTA6. I mean they've been absolutely milking GTA V since it's OG release in 2013. You can bet it'll be a talking point of the PS6 with a "remastered" version laying in the wings.

If Rockstar Needed an Excuse to Charge $100 for GTA 6, Nintendo Just Pulled the Trigger

TNS: With the Nintendo Switch 2 bringing new games that cost $80 bucks, what's stopping Rockstar from giving GTA 6 a price tag of $100 or more?

Hopefully everyone will hate Nintendo with passion like they did Sony if this happens. $90 physical games here Nintendo comes!

But honestly, I applaud their balls going for that $450 pricetag with a 1080p lcd screen and a mere 256GB storage. Additional SD card is definitely needed and they're expensive and their games are expensives despite the 3rd party games being the worst version of the bunch.

Good luck, I guess.

CDbiggen21d ago

I feel like people aren't talking enough about the storage situation. It kind of has been overshadowed by the prices.

badz14921d ago

The price should make the matter worse if you consider the storage. And the mere 12GB of RAM, most probably only like 10GB usable due to the OS needing some reserves but that's being generous. Considering the "new" online features, I doubt 2GB of RAM is enough for the OS. With under 10GB RAM, you can just forget 4K even if the system supports 4K output. I think even 1440p will be reached only with DLSS. RT? Yeah maybe at 900p

Tacoboto21d ago

Steam Deck is $400 for a dramatically lower quality display - 800p 60hz non-HDR - and a lower capacity battery.

It has the superb ecosystem, but no baseline for performance and "Verified" lately tends to mean titles that just barely run on the thing.

CDbiggen21d ago

I was so disappointed by my steam deck's display, IPS glow and everything, only for them to bring out the OLED a year or so later. So like with pro model consoles, I now know to wait for the OLED models for handhelds.

badz14921d ago

Would be crucified for sating this but OLED is not the be all and end all for a good display and experience. Yeah, the Deck LCD is kinda bad, but I am still genuinely impressed by the display of the PS Portal which is also LCD. Reports are saying that the Switch 2 display is equally good too.

gold_drake21d ago

but to be very fair

people already said that they dont care about the price of gta6. so this will give rockstar even more push to do it

MarvelzDJ21d ago

Yeah but probably it will be worth it. If ubisoft or EA price their yearly crap games 100$ I wouldn‘t even consider buying them for a second.

gold_drake21d ago

no game is worth a 100 dollar price tag.

MarvelzDJ21d ago

R* doesn‘t need an excuse. Their games use to set the bar so high that no one even comes close for years and years. No company has come close to RDR2 when it comes to open worlds and the same will happen with GTA6.

FACTUAL evidence21d ago

I have no problem with companies wanting to charge 100$ for their games. I would just never buy them. 🙅

GTA VI Marketing Window Is Relatively Close To Its Release

The marketing window for Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games' open world action game, GTA VI, is relatively close to its release.

It’s not coming this year. I don’t know why people can’t accept this! lol

Profchaos28d ago

Until Rockstar outright say it's not happening then it's happening.

They dropped the trailer and got 200 million views in a few days they could shadow drop the game and it would outsell everything that has ever existed movies and games

Abear2127d ago

Agreed, but with each day that passes and we hear nothing the more obvious it becomes that Rockstar themselves aren’t sure it’ll be ready.

Putte28d ago

So April will actually be the month when it all starts. So they have changed the hype windue a little with shorter time between marketing and release. I like that

lucasnooker28d ago

Yeah yeah. Downvote me all you like. Y’all gonna see soon when we get that official delay. We ain’t even got trailer 2 yet. You guys are delusional

Abear2127d ago (Edited 27d ago )

I think you’re right, maybe an Ass Creed Shadows situation where they launch a few months later than expected to polish up.

I’ve been checking gaming news lately with more excitement knowing the second trailer or release day is going to be announced and it’s crickets.

The silence is deafening at this point and it does seem more likely it’ll slip to first quarter of ‘26

thorstein28d ago

"Marketing window"

Rockstar just needs to drop the release date and the entire gaming world stops.

Putte28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

Next month will be the time the world stops.

Profchaos28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

According to Rockstar that window is whenever they damn well please

They gave a singular sentence saying we can't wait to show what we have been up to last December and the world lost it's mind the trailer would go on to hit 250 million views on Rockstars channel not including the many more ign or other outlets got making the trailer one of the most watched videos within 24 hours

Putte27d ago

Yes and that is what everybody is debating now. When that is. What's your point?

Profchaos28d ago (Edited 28d ago )

I'm not convinced by this statement given the initial trailer dropped in December 2023.

Rumour — Rockstar Is Planning Roblox/Fortnite-Style User-Generated Content For GTA VI

Rockstar Games is reportedly looking to incorporate user-generated content similar to Roblox and Fortnite for Grand Theft Auto VI.

The developer has apparently already met with a number of major Roblox and Fortnite creatures about the possibility of building custom experiences in GTA VI, with Rockstar reportedly planning to allow the game’s environment and assets to be modified by creators to implement their own IP into the sandbox.
