Indiana Jones and the Great Circle First Look Preview: It’s So Riddick and I Love it for That - IGN

IGN : Indiana Jones and the Great Circle strongly reminded of another game the developers at MachineGames once created: the Vin Diesel-starring original-Xbox classic, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Indy absolutely screams Riddick – in the very best of ways – and because of that, The Great Circle went from something on my most-anticipated list to being far and away the game I’m most looking forward to playing this year.

Looking forward to playing this on PC

ZacultronTheFirst238d ago

Hopefully we get to see/play this demo ourselves. The lack of any proper gameplay footage is concerning, not that i have any doubt about Machine Games delivering the game,it's just..alarming to say the least.

Jingsing238d ago

Assuming what we have seen is partial gameplay it looks pretty jank for an FPS game. Reminds me of a bad VR game.

anast238d ago

Hyped! It's on PSN just waiting to be released.

First and foremost, this must be great for the folks at Machine Games. Well done & congrats!

Xbox making BIG money out of Playstation nation this year!

Oblivion Remaster is already the third biggest release on PS5 this year! Only behind (so far) of Monster Hunter: Wild and Assassins Creed Shadows!

So is Sega these days.

Funny really you make a good game and make it available for sale and people buy it. What a world we live in

northpaws2h ago

Still this argument? Lol.

The truth is the Xbox division cannot even survive without PS now, not the other way around.

Kornholic35m ago

Since the majority of Xbox players absolutely REFUSE to buy and pay for games, it wouldn't be even possible to make these types of big budget games without releasing them on PS5.

It's a shame that Xbox players don't respect games and game culture enough to support them.

Playstation making BIG money out of Xbox nation this year.

Zero work, zero costs, zero risks... just collecting gold.
Just like with Sega and other big third party studios 🙌

Now that Xbox fanboys have accepted that xbox games will be released on PS5 (and Switch 2), Microsoft will be able to release them on Day one from now on. Just had to get people to swallow the pill.

dveio1h ago

I really gotta say I am a bit curious about E-Day.

With hardly any sales anymore, wether hardware nor software, probably not even subscriptions in a quantity they would want to have:

Is Spencer going to pull the trigger and bring Gears D1 on Playstation?

goken1h ago

It’s what a good game from a good franchise deserves.
I still think it would have done better if it came out on PS5 day one.

dveio1h ago

That's my guess, too.

In hindsight, it's really been a bold decision to not release it on Playstation in a month like December.

But instead back in August already to announce it's going to come to Playstation, then proceed to make it a weird "4 ½ months timed exclusive", and then to release it in a time with so much competition/big games being around.

Isn't this just weird?

I mean why would you do that, purely from a business point of view speaking.

UK Sales Charts: Expedition 33 Debuts in Second Place, Almost All Sales for PS5 Version

The UK's physical sales charts for last week are here, and it's more good news for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

The RPG has debuted at number two, only trumped by Hogwarts Legacy, which has been top for several weeks in a row.

Furthermore, 96 per cent of the copies sold were for PS5 — perhaps not as shocking a statistic when you remember the game launched on Game Pass on Xbox systems, but in the realm of physical sales, that's quite the gulf.

Geez.

I don't even know how to put it.

I mean, yeah, ok, that's just impressive.

While still remembering times when Xbox discs were on par or even sold more than Playstation's in the UK.

jznrpg10h ago

Proud of those 4 percent of Xbox players supporting games with their wallet and going physical. Not a joke.

Relientk7712h ago

Good! I'm glad Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 got a strong debut. We'll deserved and I hope it continues to sell well.

shadowT12h ago

96%... maybe there was no Xbox disc available?

goken1h ago

While we’re at it, Maybe 50% of those wanted to buy it for Xbox but accidentally bought the PS5 version instead and will be taking it back to the store to exchange it in the coming days.

Scissorman10h ago

This is why devs praise being on Game Pass. They know that the Xbox install base won't buy their game anyway, and they get a nice payout upfront. It's a complete win win.

mkis00710h ago

This game could have made more if it wasn't on gamepass. Only under the radar ones benefit that much from gamepass.

dveio9h ago

I'd guess they saw the potential of the game and paid Sandfall a very (!) good amount of compensation before-hand.

Bathyj9h ago

More likely they were taking the safe option and getting a payout up front in case it didn't sell and now they are regretting it as it could have been a big hit .

who knows that ratio could have been closer to 60 40 had it not been on Game pass

MrNinosan8h ago

The ratio will never be 60/40, not even close whatever game it is.

If this game wasn't on GamePass, the ratio would in best case scenario reach maybe 90/10.

1. Playstation install base is more than double (almost triple of Xbox).
2. Xbox gamers don't tend to spend as much money on games
3. Jrpgs are still way more popular on the Playstation consoles than on Xbox.

Playstation owners buy games.

Strange seeing Hogwarts there as I downloaded it for my son from PS Plus a couple of days ago.

InUrFoxHole4d ago

Playstation owners buy games? That's a wild badge of honor my boy.

Bathyj4d ago

Not really. It's directly contributed to having the healthiest console and ecosystem. Not really debatable.

The alternative is a console platform holder whose least important customers are the ones who own their console. That's why it's Microsoft games studios now not Xbox in all but name.

Microsoft needs PlayStation, PC and Nintendo players now more than they need Xbox players. They're a dying breed.

andy854d ago

Not really. That's why Xbox is going under consoles wise. PS gamers purchase stuff that's why console and game sales are always high. Xbox gamers want games for 'free' on gamepass and to enter at the lowest price point (series s)

VenomUK3d ago

@InUrFoxHole said “Playstation owners buy games? That's a wild badge of honor my boy.”

This Tuesday after The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion was finally revealed I saw a tonne of conversation on X/Twitter of people gleefully mocking PS5 owners who said they were buying the game, as they were getting it for free with Game Pass. Yes, that’s great value for people with a Game Pass subscription - but do you still not see how it has impacted the Xbox hardware platform? It’s the reason Indiana Jones and Oblivion and Forza Horizon 5 aren’t exclusive anymore.

ravens523d ago

InUrFoxHole, its wild that you think that's wild lmao. 🤯. You buy your food from the grocery store?? Ugggh. You should get Factor. Who pays for food anymore when you can pay a subscription to receive food for "free". Disgusting.

Sound stupid? It is.

InUrFoxHole3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

@Bathy
That's some cope there. You think the healthiest console is the one that doesn't even provide their gamers with their exclusive games? That crazy talk man. The healthiest is Nintendo and that's 💯 not even a debate. MS provides gamers with games. Sony provides you with MS games. Enjoy

@andy
You have broke brain. Gamepass isn't free. It's a sub service. Jesus n4g knows how to pick'em

andy853d ago

@InUrFoxHole notice I put free in ' ' these? Doesn't take a genius. Every game that comes out on Xbox you'll see this comment "is this coming to gamepass".

goken3d ago

2nd on the charts for a game such as Indy ain’t great.
Releasing half year after xbox version probably cooled off some demand.

This is a very good game, deserves the best chance to do well.

badz1493d ago

The real great performer here is Astrobot. keeping that rate of sales for a last year's game that is not GTAV, CoD and FIFA (now Hogwarts too). outselling MH Wilds and EA FC is kinda wild for Astrobot!

dveio3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Hogwart's, Indiana, Astro Bot & Monster Hunter - that's a pretty nice top 4 once again.

I bet MachineGames are quite happy about the sales pouring in.
