From GameWatcher: "Remedy and Annapurna Pictures have announced a strategic partnership on Control 2 intending to also bring Control and Alan Wake to film and television.
The deal will see Annapurna finance 50% of the development budget for the upcoming Control 2, while Remedy will receive a greater revenue share from game sales after the initial investments have been recouped from sales."
The head of the studio behind Alan Wake and Control talks to Game File about Remedy's survival, a key cancellation, and getting game devs to think more about game business (but not too much!)
I would hope after the learnings in Control 1 and refinement in AW2 for current-gen optimization, that they could reduce cost on the tech side for their next project.
Control 1 was also budget constrained and was great so I'm not worried. Remedys design and writing go further than a budget.
Remedy Entertainment has revealed that Max Payne 1 & 2 remake has achieved critical development goals, while Control 2 is in full production.
I have seriously HIGH hopes for these remakes, hope they can live up to my own hype 🦖.
Remedy says there's always a big challenge trying to match creative ambition with realistic budgets, and how many units you can sell.
I wish they had released a Steam version on launch. I feel that should have been part of their focus right away from announcing the game.
Would have made up alot of ground had they have released a physical version at the same time as the digital release.
I think thats where it bit them in the bum to be honest.
Weren't they whining over not breaking even a few weeks ago? No all-of-a-sudden they're talking about overspending on the budget?
Ctrl+F "Epic" and 0 results.
Sweet. The less Epic is involved with anything not Unreal, the better.
These films will be a money dumpster.
